I think Ben is a parody of an upper class twit/merchant banker and he clearly marking out a career in media by being as odious as possible which makes him the candidate with the highest profile. I'd guess there have been more posts about him than anyone else.

Ever story needs a pantomime villain and Ben fits the part perfectly. He is the most high profile candidate and great entertainment - no wonder Siralan didn't fire him...
