$200,000 lather

SACKED Neighbours star Shane Connor has hit the television show with a $200,000-plus bill. Connor, who played Joe Scully, is suing the program's producers, claiming he was unfairly sacked last September.
A Supreme Court writ issued by Connor reveals he was earning more than $5000 a week in the long-standing soapie and he is now suing for lost fees.
Last year, Connor made headlines after his contract was cancelled and he was escorted off the Neighbours Nunawading set. No reason has ever been given for his sacking after four years on the Channel 10 soapie.
Legal documents obtained by the Herald Sun show Connor is suing Neighbours producers Grundy Television for breaching his agreement, excluding him from the workplace, failing to pay his fees and damaging his reputation.
He is seeking $209,514 for fees for the 10 months his contract still had to run, to July 2004, as well as damages and costs.
The documents say that after joining the show in July 1999, Connor was paid from $2250 a week for appearing in two episodes, up to $5422 a week to appear in five episodes.
Last night a senior Grundy Television representative said the writ would be vigorously defended.
"The reasons for the termination are well-founded and well-documented," the representative said.
