The Ofcom brigade are at it again.

It seems that some people have nothing better to do than whinge and wine about anything and everything.

I didn't like Fabia's audition myself, to be brutally honest it would've put me off my tea had I not eaten it beforehand , but did I take offence to it? Not at all. It seemed like a tongue-in-cheek act to me and was censored so I can't really see the problem.

No doubt that now those complaints are in the open they'll escalate by people who didn't even see the audition.

Pathetic people who contact Ofcom about a reality TV show audition! They should worry about the real bad things this countries going through!

I'm very undecided about this one.

I guess some of the people who complained were upset about the lewdness of the act and the way it seems to be encouraged by a mainstream "family" entertainment programme like BGT.

They may also feel that this sort of thing is actually a vivid symptom of the "real bad things this countries going through" - and they may well have a point!

Stray dogs, from the look of it.

If someone has their bits out and jiggles her wobbly bits, no doubt people would complain. The woman was irrelevent to the show. She didn't have any talent.

When people complain about soaps, I do think that is a bit much, however in this case I don't blame people for complaining.

I'm actually surprised only 40 people complained about it though

I'm also pretty sure it was broadcast after the watershed, about 9.10pm? Mind you, I assume it wasn't edited out of repeats pre watershed.

Imagine the complaints that would have come flooding in if it wasn't for those little union jacks. In any event it's the world we live in these days, kind of pathetic, it was after the watershed.

Since when does "close to 40 complaints" need a "brigade"?

If the Ofcom brigade had been at it, there'd have been 100s of complaints, at least.

I found it mildly entertaining but it wasn't exactly talent and I wouldn't want to see it again.

I've just posted on another thread but I'll reiterate here that I was disgusted as this is a family show and it is completely inappropriate and I just hope there were no kids in the audience. What the hell is the point of putting her through? Not as if she'll be allowed to perform in front of the Queen anyway.

As Mrs Spoon said, no talent in getting your tits out.

Like I said though, I wouldn't be suprised if the number of complaints regarding the audition did reach "100s" now that this report has been leaked. Look at the Russel Brand and Jonathan Ross row last year.

Besides, it was the best title I could come up with at the time.

I agree, but why take offence? Especially as it was censored?

You do make a very valaid point there, actually. But AFAIK it wasn't any of the studio audience who complained, it was people who watched it at home on their TV's, and as I aforementioned it was censored so I would hardly call it "inappropiate".

By the way I respect your opinion, but my bet is that many of those who made the complaints are amongst the saddos who seem to have Ofcom on redial.

If it was after 9.00pm it was after the watershed, BUT the programme itself started well before that and is supposed to be family viewing. It is unreasonable to expect minors to stop watching a programme halfway through, so no, it should not have been show. She didn't even have any talent - it was just a poor excuse to show off her bits, same as strippers, lapdancers, pole dancers et al.

I still had to explain what was going on to my 8 year old as he was confused as hell and wanted to know what was with the flags and why was she doing that etc and why I was sitting there with a shocked expression repeating Oh my god, no, what the? while fumbling with the remote hoping we had some fast forward movability on the Sky+.

I let him stay up with me to watch it for a treat as we usually always watch it together and telling him to go to bed half way through would have been unfair. Even though it was past the watershed I still (wrongly) assumed it would still be ok for kids to watch seeing as it's a family show. I would imagine many kids would have been watching at home too and the following day.

Flags or not, the whole 'act' was still completely inappropriate for family viewing. Very disappointed that she was shown, even more disappointed that she was put through.

There have been acts before which have been inappropriate for kids (the chainsaw/blood everywhere job) and I should have remembered that. In future I'll record it and let him watch it the next day with a bit of censoring by me.

Lesson learned though, no need to contact Ofcom - I agree there seems to be small proportion of people that seem to have nothing much better to do. They seem to have forgotten we can change channels or even turn off. Unless of course it's parents of kids that were watching and are more peed off about it than me.

If anything it would be unreasonable that adults should not see it just because awful parents wont put their brats to bed at a reasonable hour.

There is an age restriction to be in the audience, over 15 i think, so there shouldn't have been anyone overly young there, doesn't stop those who watched on tv though.

I wouldn't complain about the act as she was brave to do it but I was hoping that she wouldn't get through to the next round. Yes it was a laugh at the time but it wasn't a talent and how can the three judges vote her through, then again one of them is Simon.
Maybe to be safe BGT should have not shown it as it was before the watershed.

come on though, 40 out of the 10 million odd people who watched it

Who says they are awful parents? Some parents let their children stay up on a Saturday night as a treat, and if the show started long before that they would be unfair parents to make them go to bed before the end.

No, its unfair to have children and expect everyone else to suffer the burden. If parents dont like what they may be subjected to then they should have put something on the end of it.

It's most probably old women, all above the age of 60, who have nothing better to do than scour the schedules and look for things they can report.

I've certainly got better things to do that complain to Ofcom about tv programs (I use the remote control instead) even so, I found this woman very offensive. Everyone else who clearly had no talent are almost instantly buzzed off, so why wasn't this woman, after all, she had no more talent than the guy who just stood on one spot and waved his arms around?

As for whether children should be considered - I think that as this is a show that is open to ALL ages, then they should. The kids who were at the theatre, and in the audience, didn't have the luxury of a remote control!
