I have just had a new BT line put in my office, and before I order broadband, I want to get a jazzy business number for it.
Unfortunately the number they have allocated me looks very residential and dour, despite me paying extra for a business line.
The problem is, BT business support tell me they can no longer choose a number for me, but that I can request for it to be changed. They said this will cost £30 and be randomly generated, so there is no guarantee it will be any better. I could end up with something even worse.
Frankly I find this a bit ridiculous and unfair, since there are plenty of my competitors out there with funky BT numbers. Just look at taxi firms for instance.
Any advice on this? Can I fight for a business-ey number or do I have to roll over and take it like a man?
Oh and buy the way, please no VoIP suggestions as I've given up on it. And I'm not interested in funky geographical numbers.
