Sorry it had to come to this.
When they work (as mine seems to) they are excellent. I hope they get it up to a standard where it will be useful for you (or someone brings out another reasonably priced PVR), soon. |

The shop assistant did state they have had more than expected returned, which must be costing Humax in the long run.

Meanwhile, don't forget where you put the receipt for the new one (and the packaging) - just in case

Reading another thread reminds me, check if your new unit has version 1.00.03 firmware. This is not available for download anywhere, so it will indicate it's a new unit from Humax. Bob_Cat assures us this version is not needed for existing units, but it's a good check to see how recent your new unit has been produced. Hopefully it will be this later version, and you'll only suffer the non-critical, but very annoying, feature depravation issues.

Have been using the replacement Foxsat-HDR for over a week now, and have found it to be a more stable unit than the one returned to Argos. The 'power on and off' feature works a treat, and all scheduled recordings have worked. Could well be because this new unit is running 1.00.03......

I'm pleased it's working better for you. Great news. I wonder if they have put more in the 1.00.03 than revealed?
Have you tested it for recording 2 channels at once and then pressing the radio button - does that still crash the set? It would have been one of the simplest of fixes and dead easy to test if they have done anything about it. ![]() If it's the same then, oh well... Patrick |

![]() ). It would not surprise me if Humax at some point changed a component or two or they received a batch of components that were "on the edge" of their operational limits and occasionally (through heat?) 'fell over'.It is the nature of these forums that people mainly report problems/issues/faults. Reading the forums you would think that these boxes are the worst electronic devices ever sold. But there are lots of people who, like me, pop up occasionally to report that nope: I don't get this; my unit don't have that; it doesn't do that either; it works as expected but with some annoyances. Humax will never tell us the numbers, but the returns are probably similar to any other new system, and many returns are for swaps not refunds. Humax can identify from these returned units the problems and fix them in later batches. That is the way all manufactures work. So welcome to the club of the working Humax! You will still get an occasional recording that is not what you expect, but that will be down to the metadata the unit is receiving, not the box itself. And then when the firmware does get upgraded .... we'll have a whole new set of things to gripe about because Humax won't have fixed it the way we want it to be done. |

It is lovely to have someone so happy with their box! That has to be good.
Although I suspect you either don't use it much or may have lower expectations than most people. I agree though, it is certainly not the worst piece of equipment ever... as said the other day it is possible to enjoy the box and think that certain aspects of it are rubbish and unstable at the same time..
