Having 'discovered' Susan and unleashed a phenomenon on the world what steps is he taking to protect her? Seriously how can this charming, naive, totally unmedia savvy lady be expected to cope with what's been unleashed this week? And she hasn't even got to the semi's or the finals yet?

Personally I pray that he doesn't doesn't change her and make her over, the last thing she needs is teeth like his. Her charm is being 'Susan' not some Hollywood prototype that fits the traditional showbiz mould.

But far more importantly though he'd better protect her from the media onslaught that has started and she is totally unequipped to deal with. If he leaves her to fend for herself through all this I will be utterly disgusted in him. She needs protecting from the vultures and opportunists out there. She is no longer just some contestant on BGT.

I don't mind admitting I'm quite frightened for her, I want her dream to work for her but we all know how nasty 'showbiz' can be.

I would worry more about how Susan will cope when the attention dies down which it will, pretty quickly.

I'm not so sure.....they're already talking about Oprah, America album charts etc.....I think we're going to be hearing about her for a good while to come.

I wouldnt be too quick to have her down as a niave shrinking violet that cannot handle her new found found. It was that kind of false assumption that let to the jaw dropping reaction to her performance on BGT. Unlike some child on X Factor I think she has the maturity to cope with the media storm surrounding her, and with that comes the charm and the ballsyness to handle the media. She stood her own against a crowd her were initially against remember. I think she should and will enjoy her 15 minutes.

Showbiz is a cruel mistress.

I would be more concerned as to who encouraged a woman with learning difficulties to put herself through this.

Simon Cowell's given Susan Boyle a platform to make a name for herself that no one else has done before in her life. 19 million+ downloads on Youtube. I think she can handle a few questions from the media. And I would be surprised if steps are not underway to give her some coaching, maybe get someone to act as her agent, etc. It's only been six days.

I would be more concerned that her learning difficulties should render her incapable of taking part. What should she be doing, sat in the corner of some depressing day centre singing to herself?

Learning difficulties doesn't necessarily mean that you can't cope with life. Learning difficulties can range from someone who needs help with their everyday life, to someone who only has mild difficulties as in not being as bright as the average person on the street, like, quick thinking.

It's not even in his hands anymore, it's a total internet sensation. I'm sure they expected it to be the peak of the first auditions show, but not what is has become. What really kicked this off in America was the Twitter mentions from Perez Hilton, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore among others. Ryan Seacrest was asked when is Susan Boyle going to be on American Idol and said he was going to suggest it to the producers! (it won't happen, but still!)

Cowell now has this situation where she could release an album tomorrow and sell millions and do every TV show on earth, but they have to sit on their hands and wait for 7 weeks before they do anything!

Just now, she will be in the hands of the media heads at Syco, Talkback Thames and ITV. After the show, she will probably get some kind of deal with Syco Music and be managed by Modest! Management. That said, being signed to Syco doesn't necassarily mean that you see much of Simon Cowell.

This time next week it will all have gone quiet for a while and it probably won't reach this level of interest again.

Is it true that before Susan Boyle emerged on stage in Glasgow that Simon Cowell knew she had an untutored but incredible voice as his research briefing notes told him so and his "spontaneous" reactions are scripted. After Susans performance he did say that he knew the minute she walked out on the stage that we would get something extraordinary.

Exactly 'learning difficulties' can be defined as dyslexia for example, which many apparently 'normal' people have

Did he know? Possibly. In some cases, it might make sense to tell the judges what to expect. In a case like this, it might just be better to let them be surprised.

And they edit in the reactions anyway if they have to. They don't need to be rehearsed because they aren't the actual shots from that moment in time (or even that audition).

Agree totally. A lot of people with 'learning difficulties' have enormous talents in other ways. I saw a program on tv years ago about a little boy who was very very severely autistic, the poor little guy couldn't communicate with anyone at all. But somehow he got hold of a violin and learnt to play. He had a truly amazing talent.

What has been able to spell or write well got to do with anything?

Mr Cowell is interested in only ONE thing and one thing only and that's making MONEY and as much money as he can.

and "extraordinary" can be interpreted in two ways...

That's what worries me. Does he ever get a tug at his heart strings and do the right thing by his discoveries?
