Am I the only one infuriated by Philip?
Philip annoys me terribly. On You're Fired and the general consensus on this forum, he is popular yet I can only see him as a pessimistic, aggressive and intimidating fool.
When he isn't shouting down the phone, he has a face like thunder. The only time I felt a glimmer of empathy was when he stood up for Lorraine (whom I didn't rate). And he is rather useless at the tasks. He was terrible in the catering tasks and seems to drain all the energy from every situation. Am I alone? |

Not exactly. I think he has bags of energy, but is too impatient and agressive.

I think he behaved like a petulant little boy. I was not impressed by him at all. Impatient, arrogant with an air of "I know it all" about him. You can't behave like that in business, it doesn't win you any friends. This is not "Wall St" or the Gordon Gekko school of business and finance. You have to work with people, be a team player.
Bags of energy yes and a strong desire to win but his behaviour on Wednesday made me dislike him. |

He himself doesn't infuriate me although I do find him rather arrogant , but it seems as though every negative thing he does, and he does a lot of them, is largely ignored whereas one miniscule positive thing he has done will be picked up and everyone will say how great he is based on that. That's what annoys me.

I wonder if we are being deliberately misled by the editing. It's so easy for the production company to keep asking someone questions that will elicit negative responses and then edit them to look as if they are gratuitous moaning. It's also very easy for them to pick instances of bad temper, crying, impatience, whatever ... and edit programmes in a way that makes it appear that this is the person's true persona.
My guess is that Philip gets right up to the final two and they are making him stand out as much as possible. Although he does appear to moan a lot, when he does it's usually when serious mistakes are being made and he can't do anything about it. Like Helen last year, his assessments seem calm, intelligent and accurate. And I can't believe I just said that about an estate agent! |

I blow hot and cold with Philip.
He shot up in my estimation last week when he was full of positivity, but he let himself down again this week. I don't think he has the right temperament for the job. |

Don't like him - though part of that is due to the fact that he's getting repeatedly positive "isn't he a CHARACTER!" edits.

He is definitely annoying and is some sort of 'character' but he will NEVER be as annoying as Ben. I can barely look at him!

For me it's more or less the opposite. When he complains he is usually right, and I can understand how frustrating it must have been to have a leader like Nooral who wouldn't make decisions. He was stuck on the weakest team this week. For me he's one of the strongest candidates.
However, his praise of Lorraine seemed out of place, because she wasn't very good. Likewise his praise of Nooral this week. It seems he always has something positive to say in the boardroom, even if it isn't really justified. I am starting to wonder whether he has an ulterior motive. |

The only week I thought he was out of order was episode one when he got on Howard's back for no reason. Howard did a good job as PM that week and was a reason the boys won the task. The other weeks in ep 2 and 4 his sentiments are shared by plenty of others(Rocky and Noorul were poor PMs) and were justifiable IMO. Unlike alot of others he also does try and raise the use during the project rather than raising the issue in the boardroom at the end having not acted on it during the task which is an attitude I prefer. Phillip is generally quite supportive of his team in the boardroom. |

I don't know where I stand with him. I don't think he's as machiavellian as I originally presumed though - he went up in my estimations last week when he defended Lorraine. He was a bit off again this week but I imagine a lot of it was borne out of frustration from having to deal with Noorul as project manager.

I can understand most of the time why he gets annoyed though. With this week's task, nothing was being done and he just doesn't have the softly, softly approach that Lorraine tried to take. He probably is one of the more astute candidates, and hasn't made a major error as of yet.
I'll be interestingto see how he acts when he enters the boardroom when he could be sacked. I think his natural aggression may turn him into another Ben when feeling cornered. |

With Noorul, he didn't actually say he was a good PM, he said he liked working with him, subtile difference, firstly he doesn't put himself in the line of fire to be brought back, secondly, if he is brought back he can attack Noorul's lack of PM skills, without giving SAS the chance to label him a hypocrite. I quite like him, I think he's very astute, and with regards the temper, I must admit, I do the same job as him, and you're tolerance for listening to long, waffling, rambling conversations that go nowhere drops pretty rapidly - and whilst you might have to bite your tongue where the client's concerned, fellow professionals, e.g. solicitors, mortgage brokers, other agents, doing the same tends to drive you insane. |
