Only problem with that is that we've all been talking about alternatives to the Humax PVR, and no doubt those are all going to be considerably more expensive?.

Be interesting to see what pricing will be like.

It's been posted on AVforums that the prices will be:

DMR-BS850 – £999

DMR-BS750 – £899

DMR-XS350 - £699

The poster cites a link to PVR Junction for the pricing:

It's also in Home Cinema Choice:

So yes, considerably more expensive!

Try This. Panasonic and BBC in copy confusion
TechRadar UK - ‎Apr 16, 2009‎
There are three recorders which will be released in June: the DMR-BS850 and DMR-BS750 are Blu-ray recorders, with 500GB and 250GB hard drives respectively

Thanks- 250GB seems stingy compared to 320GB on the Humax at about £430 cheaper, and £100 for an extra 250GB? No doubt an 'incentive' to buy lots of blu ray discs to archive onto!

There was a little flash of these on the Gadget Show at a tech show earlier tonight - closer look here.

The 'closer look' doesn't actually show the EPG- you'll have to watch it on Fiver tomorrow at 8PM, W, TF at 8AM or on Five Saturday at 10:30AM

Thats rediculous especially seeing as the Freeview one they produced was so bad that no one bought it!

There's a small glimpse of the EPG/planner in the Gadget Show clip, very brief and from what I can see it's very basic looking, just like the current look on their DVD recorders with the built in HDD's and Freeview (but sadly no series links). It appears at the top right of the screen 11 seconds in if you're interested...

It shows more of the EPG on the main Gadget Show- repeated on Five 10:30 AM on Saturday. The Panasonic Blu ray recorder is in the competition bundle this week.

Be worth spending a grand then to record the maximum of two old films a week on ITVHD. Panasonic have produced a massive failure here I think.

Humax nearly got it right first time.

I bought one! TU-CTH 100, or something like that. Took it back to the shop a week later. You're right, it was rubbish!

Hard drives are way too small.

Even the top model at 500mb isn't enough in my experience. I filled my 320GB HDR drive in 2 months over Christmas with films I didn't want to delete.

They need 1TB min.

The price simply isn't worth it with that size of drive (I'm not even sure its worth it with a larger drive. Most I'd have payed is £500 with 1 TB.

Nice boxes but way overpriced.

But as Bob_Cat would say:

Buy cheap, pay twice.

Sooo, he wants us to buy Panasonic?
