It's a tricky one this. Jody is very childish - he's shown this by dropping everything when his adoring mum and girlfriend arrived. He's been a great actor in a successful TV series from a young age. He's used to people blowing up his arse.
He tried to do the right thing but in a childish way - he knew it was right for these people to be fed but tried to make himself look like a star by doing that. To have shown maturity, he should have told the truth rather than lie to his colleagues and make them mistrust him, even if that meant him making everything himself if no-one had backed him up in his decision. It's a tough one this because in a kitchen, you need to be able to trust, it's how it all works....yet I bet the best of the chefs have made their own call against authority and it's paid off for them, it's a tough balance I suppose. You're either a worker or a leader - if you're going to be brilliant, then at some stage you have to go your own path and upset someone in the process.
He made the right decision but in the wrong way and for the wrong reasons. I think that the other contestants will let it go as it's human nature not to hold a grudge if someone admits their mistake and apologises.
I remember what it was like to be that age, full of cocky know-it-all-ness, and the way this has been dealt with could be a really valuable 'growing up' lesson. We've all had experiences that have knocked us for six yet made us happier and stronger as a result. Perhaps this may be one of those things - gawd knows he needs a bit of arrogance knocking out of him. He was no more rude to others than they were to him really - they should have been bigger in speaking to him honestly instead of whinging when he wasn't in the room.
It's all in the deeds now, Jody, that's all that matters. Show that you grow and learn.
