From what I have heard, everyone has been with everyone on the gay scene! It's a case of who you haven't slept with?!?!

You might want to define specifically what that attitude is. Ive not made any anti gay comments but you seem to leak hate judging by most of your responses.
The attitude that you would not like your child to associate with gay men is anti-gay as far as I'm concerned.

You're basing your entire view of gay men on hear'say?

At any rate, I thought you didn't associate with gays? Therefore, surely you wouldn't know what happened on the gay scene?

So are gay clubs just a pulling ground?
In a way, in the same way that straight clubs are a pulling ground. From now on im not adressing incognito lol, I cant believe some people are so ignorant, sooo, if a person said they wouldnt want there child to meet a disabled person, would that be ok? or any other minority?

And as for the person that said a child was taken away from its grandparents because a gay couple wanted it, i would like to see some proof, and if there is any i suspect it will be heavily biased. The fact that the couple trying to adopt the child are gay would not have been a factor

Personal choice!

There are loads of other things, she might not want her child exposed to!

Before reading this thread I really did think we had moved on since homosexuality was known as 'the love that dare not speak it's name.'

Why on earth should Mona or anyone else be fearful of their children meeting and perhaps developing a friendship with a gay person? Has it never occurred to these people that harmony in society only comes with acceptance of everyone, whatever their race, colour or sexuality. I refuse to use the word tolerance because some might define it as 'to put up with' which I find just as offensive as bigotry.

I hope this prejudice marks her card; after all would Sir Alan want to employ a bigot.

To be honest I couldnt give a shi* if you address me or not. All these sorts of threads tell me is that DS forum is pretty much a gay only forum and if you dont agree with the people here you are called for everything. That is far worse! good bye.

people always claim discrimination, just for having an opinion. What you do in your own house is no one's business!

I was just making it clear it that i wasnt adressing you alone, and FYI, not all straight people are slightly homophobic like this woman, and therefore even they may be offended by her comments, you dont have to be gay to see when a persons being slightly harsh towards a gay person

I'm not stifling anybody's personal choice, I'm trying to understand why allowing your child to come into contact with a gay person is seen as wrong?

You still haven't offered a reason.

Forgive me, but after reading that article, it doesn't seem shocking in the least.

Maybe she was a little blunt, perhaps - but now some sort of 'Gay Row' has come out of this? Man alive.....

You do realise that heterosexuals currently have the highest rates of STD's in Britain and that Britain has the highest rates of teenage pregnancies in Europe?

Therefore, promiscuity is just as prevalent amongst heterosexuals as it is within the gay community.

Aren't you contradicting yourself here?

You are making others private-lives your own business by discriminating on the basis of sexuality. Yet you do not allow anyone else to judge you for holding your own opinion and defend the rights of personal choice. Complete hypocrite.

You don't need us to make you look like a homophobe. You're managing that all by yourself.

People, need to get a clue and realise that this is how people think!

If you went to a primary school, and asked mothers how would they feel about the same thing....gay men associating with their children....you would get a HELL NO back from many!

I know the reason why, but I wont say it!

No one ever will because there isnt one, its just a little ignorance, which will always exist sadly, so i think we just have to leave it, most people are a little more intelligent though thankfully.

What a shame, we all can't be perfect! I want the best role models possible, not just well...

I know delectable may be a little, er, forward with his opinion, but he has a point.

Lots, and lots of people, when thinking about their child, would be apprehensive subjecting them to a gay man.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but it is commonplace across every age, culture, language, class and gender of the UK, which suggests a little more analysis is needed concerning Mona's words, for example.

She said she wouldn't like her son to be in the company of a gay person - just what was she implying - that her child wouldn't be safe in their company; that somehow they might 'catch' homosexuality? How would she feel if a racist person said they didn't like the idea of their children mixing with her? Surely homophobia is just as bad as racism!
