Well, we haven't seen the footage, and, while I am not necessarily defending Mona, it is very easy for things to get carried away without us all knowing the full truth.

I'm sorry but this has gone far beyond a discussion. People need to be able to express their opinions without being called homophobes!

I've read through delectable's posts to make sure I'm not getting this wrong- but I don't think delectable made any posts to insult or offend, nor did he make any posts that implied he was intolerant towards anyone.

It seems to me there is enough evidence to accept that she exhibited homophobic views.

Those who defend this (I'm not suggesting you are) have offered no good reason for their prejudice.

Are they suggesting their child would be unsafe? Are they happy for their kids to meet heterosexuals even though said heteros might be paedophiles.

I feel sorry for these children - in all likelihood they grow up to be as bigoted as their parents.

Furthermore, I thought the sweeping belief by some that her statements were homophobic were extremely naive - since they're relatively widespread in all aspects of society.

That's it. That's all I've said.

How do you know I'm not gay?”

Since when did 'widespread' equal acceptable?

Explaining what? Why won't someone elucidate instead of hiding behind words?

You're right - never. I just think it's interesting - that's all. Most evil things come from different aspects of society - fraud, prostitution etc. Whereas there are some widespread cases of evil, there tends to be an epi-centre for each one. Therefore, this 'homophobia' emanating from no such epi-centre has an interesting sociological sort of thing going on.

Hmm, wrong choice of words I think. You're digging yourself deeper. I think Delectable got it right with 'exposed to', not that I agree with the views being expressed.

I have absolutely no idea. They're the ones explaining. I was trying to say that that is the type of terminology they would use.

Has it not crossed anyone's mind that I may just be offering a neutral standpoint? I was trying to be fair. There does seem to be an awful lot of bias going on - from both sides.

You either find the comments acceptable or you do not.

There is no neutral here.

I fail to see the need for these grinning smilies in relation to this subject - but I suppose we should be asking you that question. Do you feel strongly about all gay people being kept away from children?

Personally I've found her pretty abhorrent from the off and this serves my initial hunch to be true.

Fair enough shes entitled to her opinion but to say that on a culturally relevant TV show and in that company is beyond stupidity and a gross misjudgement on her behalf.

By percentage or by number? Staggering if by percentage.

Delectable, may I ask what your views on homosexuality are?

I do not find the comments relevant in comparison to a full analysis.

Well, actually, people have made it very clear that there's those who find the comments unacceptable, and so-called "bigots" who don't.

I don't see why this can't be a calm discussion where people can discuss their views without resorting to name-calling, but obviously I'm just being naive.

Well, Nick Hewer is supposedly gay, so maybe she could take it up with him?!
