Nope, I'm incredibly squeamish. I passed out the other week after cutting my finger on a tin lid!
At any rate, I don't buy all this nonsense about 'learning where our food comes from' as a reason to justify killing animals on live TV. It's just an excuse to be controversial.
Maybe I could have chopped the head off an eel but I couldn't do it to any other living creature.
When I was small we lived by the seaside and pulling a crab apart didn't bother me, all us kids did it, it was just part of country life or if you will seaside life.
Today, living a town life for the last 20 years, I'm much more squeamish.

Do you mean live ones??
I must have always been a softie. My sisters and I went out and caught some prawns when we were on holiday and my mum was going to boil them alive and we were all horrified. We put them back...........I can't eat lobster and crab to this day.

Like I said I was born and brought up by the seaside, we used to have crab races on the promenade. My mother used to collect winkles and mussels and cook them, so it was all part of growing up.
Now I have become a 'Townie' after 20 or so years of living a Town life, I have become used to their habits.

pmsl !
Would it have little blowdarts in it's mouth, laced with human poisin ?? Would make a great movie
I felt a bit sorry for the eels because slimy Grant Bovey had more cause to be shoved in a sack and then have his slippery head thwacked off by a meat cleaver.
Absolutely not! If anyone has been deep sea fishing, you'll know that catching live fish and killing them is a horrible experience. I went a few years back on a trip fishing for barracuda (naiive to what was involved). The fish were thrown into dry metal boxes on the boat and left in there to die. As well as the thrashing around (as they tried in vain to escape) they made terrible noises - a sonar type squeal.
Absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life. I'm not squeamish but this was quite horrific as well as the feeling of guilt and helplessness as all I wanted to do was throw them back into the water.

99% of the time it is not always like this so please don't tar all fishing with the same brush. Your skipper should have had the good sense to kill the fish as quickly and efficiently as possible. I've been fishing off the coast of Dorset a few times and can honestly say the fish I caught, killed and ate a couple of hours later that day were the best I've ever tasted.
I'd have chopped the eels' heads off, but not just for entertainment like it was the other night.
I would not hesitate in doing so as I love meat and fish and have to accept the consequences of that. However it would not amuse me and I would relish it. I would just do it quickly and abruptly and then move on to get ready to cook it.
