Nothing to do with that. I know the BBC changed PID's but this would not expalin the problems with Teletext channel 986. I also did not have to perform any re-scan to get it working again (just a power cycle).

I should have also mentioned that earlier on in the evening I was watching the F1 practice replay on the BBC Sports Multiscreen so it was definitely working just a few hours before.

Not daring to update the non-freesat list because that will delete my recording schedule.

Agreed + not being able to store recorded content into personally created folders via the media manager (Or is it finger trouble on my part?)

It's finger trouble.

Open Media List press opt+ OK to get into File Manager

Blue - Make Folder - OK - Type Name - Press Yellow

Cursor right to new folder - OK to open folder
Cursor Left Press Yellow to enter edit mode
Cursor to each file you want to move and hit OK to select them all (OK again toggles the selection off if you make a mistake)
Press green to move them all

I've tried all the folder creation and this works fine. Then attempted to move a recording (Champions League HD) to the new folder but the 'green' button (move) option is not availible / greyed out.

I have moved a file out of a Humax automatically created series link folder and found that I'm unable to move the file back into the folder. It was Eastenders (Testing only BTW!)

My guess is DRM kind of copy protection type thing...what's your view?

When recording a programme and then deciding to play it back (whilst still recording it) everything ticks along lovely until the actual programme ends then the playback from media stops.

Why???

You then have to go back into media and find where you were and restart playback.

Works for me for any programme HD or SD

The folder recieving the file has to be open in the the RH pane (You have to click on the folder to open it, when open the icon will have a folder icon with 2 dots indicating clicking it will go up a level and the folder file path appears above the pane). After opening the folder cursor left to a file and the green button should be active.

This shouldn't happen when you are using ChasePlay.

Are you sure you are not Timeslipping it instead?

Just to be clear, Chaseplay is when you are recording a programme, then go into the Media List and play the recording of that programme from the beginning, whilst it is still recording to the end.

Timeslipping (or TimeShifting), is where you have the programme on Live, Pause it for however long, so it is buffering it, and then Play again, effectively watching the buffered Live programme, some minutes behind Live.

Chaseplay is usually bomproof, I have never managed to trip it up, in fact I can't see how you can trip it up, in this respect.

Timeslipping, is a different matter. If you happen to be TS'ing a prog that you are also actually currently recording, then when the prog/recording ends (or if an immediately following recording on another channel starts), then it flushes the buffer. You are watching the buffer, by being in TS, so you are dumped to Live. This is known behaviour.

You can avoid this in some instances, by being on the channel before the recording starts, and TS is safe then, as long as you stay on that channel, and any subsequent recordings are on that channel, you can then TS all night if you want. But, if you have one subsequent recording on a different channel, whilst you are in TS, this trick will not even work, you will get dumped to Live.

I've done quite a bit of testing on this, and unless I'm certain of maintaining the circumstances for TS outlined above, I always use CP instead. Never had a problem.

I always use chase play (i.e. start playing it from the media list even if its still recording) and I have had no issues at all.

I have never really tried timeslipping whilst recording the program (I only use timeslip if I am only watching the program and miss something).

The chase play method of viewing a currently recording program has always seemed most logical to me as thats how my Freeview PVR handles the viewing of a program that is currently being recorded.

recording a programme and playing back whilst still recording....ok until the recording stops and then the playback stops.

I once thought it was when I maybe recording one or two channels straight after the recording in question and that this affected it..but it seems not.

This does my head in......any ideas on how to solve???????

PS: I have only seemed to have had this problem in the last two months or so..after moving house and doing a new scan....due to using the box to help me fine tune the signal.

My biggest problem with the Foxsat box is the clunky and slow response when negotiating the EPG, I had assumed probably foolishly that having used the lightening fast response of the 9200 for a few years that the latest and greatest from Hummy would be better.....oh how wrong!

We have eneded up reverting to watching virtually everything on Freeview and only using the Freesat box for the VERY occasional HD broadcast......had I tried the Foxsat box in a shop first the slow response to the remote/EPG would have definately stopped me buying, I was waiting for the Panny box to be released but upon seeing the prices opted for the Foxsat, maybe I was wrong, maybe I need to pay a lot more to get a good level of usability rather than the mediocre standard of the Foxsat box?

Yes I have found this extremely annoying too. I have been watching a program only for it to suddenly stop all by itself just because a recording stopped. So I played it again, and about 10-20 seconds later it stopped again because another recording stopped. It is unacceptable.

Assuming you are replaying a recording from the media list this should not happen. Replay on my hdr is never affected by what the tuners are doing. Try a factory reset and if this behaviour persists return the hdr as it's clearly faulty. (Replay of already recorded material does not need a tuner)

Hi again Graham. To be honest, I don't think I was watching a recording from the Media menu- I was watching one of the programs I was recording at the time, but was behind from the live broadcast due to pausing it for cups of tea etc. Even then, this should not happen. Sky+ NEVER had this problem when I did the same with that, so this shouldn't either.

I find the subtitles during instant rewind most annoying. I have subtitles set to disable within the langauge menu, but they still seem to come on. Any hints on how to get rid of this or is it a 'feature'?

Other than that, I find the Hummy excellent (esp compared to my crappy Amstrad Sky+ PVR3 that was slow, forever crashing and failing recordings)

If you re-read post #108, I explained all this (You are TimeSlipping), and why it dumps you to Live.

Use Chaseplay, instead (Select & Play the prog from the Media List, even though it says it is still recording, you can Play it).

Yes there is a known problem with this, the buffer get's flushed when time shifted viewing a programme and the programme finishes. The work around is simple though, start an instant recording and access the recording 30 sec later from the media list. Time shifting in this way even with the bug removed can never be 100% reliable as the tuner you are using can be taken at any time to carry out a scheduled recording.

If you are recording the programme anyway always view the actual recording from the media list, this will work whatever recording you have set up.

Thanks for the work-around Graham and Savvy- but like I said, we shouldn't have to have a work-around. Sky+ manages this no problem, and I am surprised this hasn't been fixed yet. I am seriously considering moving to Freeview and forgetting BBC HD and ITV HD (ITV HD also bringing its fair share of issues).

Try turning the subtitles on and then back off again via the language menu I had this problem once and this seemed to cure it

I think perhaps a factory reset may be required if that fails try my previous suggestion again. good luck

These "issues" are putting me off as well, but I assume a firmware update will fix them, my 9200 is not perfect but its 98% perfect currently (some slow responses still).

Maybe Humax will launch a new model soon with a larger HDD and uprated chipset?
