Is This TV "Kaput"?
I recently passed on my old Panasonic CRT TV to my Cousin who phoned me the other day to say that whenever she turns it on she gets a yellow screen with a white line across it with the sound of the programme. It then turns itself off.
Repeated attemps to turn on result in the same behaviour. Does this sound like it's "Kaput"?

If the TV is shutting itself off then it's definitely not happy with whatever is going on.
If it were my TV I'd skip repairing it and go look for a decent s/h CRT as a replacement instead. Decent widescreen CRT tellys are changing hands for anything in the region of £20 - £100. There's plenty of info and history in the various forums to help you work out the duffers from the gems.
