How do you jazz up the mundane?
At the risk of mentioning beans on toast, I decided to have them last night.
I put the beans in a pan. I then added a small pinch of salt & pepper, a pinch of garlic powder, a splash of chilli sauce and a chopped up field mushroom. I heated gently until the mushroom was just cooked and finally I added some finely chopped coriander. I served it on good wholemeal bread and topped it with a poached egg.
I have to say it was bloody lovely!

Wow - I have to say it sounds delish!!!

It's not pay day until the end of the week so I need a few "cheap" dinners - wil def give that a go!! And I'll also (finally) try your scopped out jacket spuds.

So when I post on the "what's for dinner tonight" thread and say I am having 'beans on toast a la indianwells' you will know what I mean

I grow perennial herbs in the garden and chuck those in with most things.
OH does strange flavour combinations though which don't work for me. Some examples are, baked beans with prawns, hummus and ham sandwiches, hummus and cheese sandwiches. Regarding his hummus and everything obssession, sometimes it feels like I am living with the Zohan.

If I didn't like cooking myself I'd say your wooden spoon was too far up your backside there.

I might grate some cheese over the beans.

My kind of cooking! I add sambal or cayenne.

Really cheap.
Can of any of the food companys' "All Day Breakfasts". Usually it's baked beans + bacon bits/sausage/mushroom etc.
Fry any left-over veg /meat you have in a little olive oil. Add can of all day breakfast and warm through.
Grate any sort of cheese over it.
Serve with crusty bread / baked potato or anything else you like.

I'd second that, and I'm also a fan of adding soy or balsamic to most foods!
