Everytime Grant is interviewed he always refers to Anthea as "my wife". Well she does have a name and I think everyone who watches it knows that she is "his wife" so why doesnt he say Anthea instaed of "my wife" all the time? At one point he said to Marco "She is my wife". Yes we know!!!

She's his possession, an object to be controlled more than an individual person?

It's probably a control thing. 'My wife' denotes possession. Simply calling her Anthea would mean she was a person in and of her own right. Something which I think Mr Bovey finds it hard to fathom and accept

I don't see a problem with it, He is protective of her.

Perhaps it saves him mixing up his wives/girlfriends names.

I noticed this and found it annoying.

I suppose he might be doing it in case he gets her name wrong

It's all very sub-Madeley, isn't it?

I wonder if Grant is related to BBs Rex 'My Girlfriend' Nomark.

She is his wife, so I don't see anything wrong in him saying it.

I suspect they are looking for a Richard-and-Judy-type gig. Shudder!

Can't see a problem with it myself - she is his wife and if nothing else he's just stating a fact.

Just as I don't think there's a problem with Anthea calling him "My Husband" which she no doubt does at other times.

Do you reckon he does it when he's having sex with her?

Grant:"Oh! Oh! Oh Yes! My Wife!"

He's a bit like Papa Lazarou, just without the charm.

I agree. I don't see the problem with someone saying "my wife" when they're referring to their wife.

He says it way too much!

He hasn't called her "Anthea" at all yet!

You call it protective, I call it possessive, let's call the whole thing off...

Grant is Papa Lazarou from 'The League of Gentlemen'.
"She's my wife now".

I can't help thinking of that when I heard him constantly referring to her as his wife and by being reminded of it by reading this thread.

It's ridiculous but there whole relationship is like something out of the 1960s, like with the whole Jody thing he should have let Anthea defend herself, she is a grown woman.

I imagine Germaine Greer is so proud of her.

Does it really matter, it is their marriage and they do appear to be happy, so why criticise them.

I didn't think people were still like that in the 21st Century.

I am very pleased to say that some people are "still like that in the 21st century!.

I absolutely love being referred to as "my wife" by my husband, over the many years we have been married.

I see nothing wrong with Grant referring to Anthea as " his wife" in fact it is very endearing.

Paddygirl, everyone's relationship is different, and we are not ALL looking for Miss Greer's approval.

After a very long marriage, maybe I could teach Miss Greer a thing or two about relationships eh!

He 'owns' her so she's 'his wife'. Her career went downhill when he took charge in their relationship, shame she hasn't realised that.
