it was Bruce that resigned

i really didn't want him to go, he seemed like a nice down to earth type of man, i would have prefered either Naomi or Anthea to have gone.

does anyone know the music that was playing when Bruce announced he was going? i'm sure i have heard it before

yeah Bruce would have been this years Barry McGuigan, he was from the same mould and he respected Marco and never once argued with him and thats what made him so good

Good episode. Niomi really seemed to have had enough. I thought one of Marco's chef's was going to push her face in the mashed potato at one point! Obviously she was going tonight if Bruce hadn't beaten her to it. Had she not volunteered to go, she probably would have been sacked.

Ade was great at the pass - love the way he steamrollered Anthea.

Really disappointed that Bruce left. He came across as a lovely hard-working man and it was nice to see his affection for his wife (Somehow it didn't seem as annoying to hear him saying 'my wife' as it did Grant 'Mash Burner' Bovey.) I thought Bruce's wife was putting a bit of a guilt trip on him though, but that's just me. Ok, she was missing him, but she could have been more encouraging for him to see it through despite the fact that she was missing him.

Anthea - highly annoying when she seemed to ridicule the reason for Bruce leaving, i.e. that he was missing his wife. 'There's only 5 days!' and saying that she could survive without Grant for that long. That's very nice, Anthea considering your husband came with you into the competition and you had only been separated from him for 24 hours by this point - Bruce had been away from his for over a week. Silly bint!

I agree, it was said in an affectionate way rather than in a possessive way.

Saw Bruce on TV this am and he reiterated that Hilsborough had been very much on his mind as well as missing his wife

Bruce was the first on the pitch to notice what was going on. The fans were screaming "Bruce help us," and first time he asked a policewoman to have the game stopped he was met with "There's nothing I can do." Only when he appealed again was the game stopped.

Time just cannot erase the memory of such a tragedy.

And what about Anthea's reaction when Bruce was eliminated? Slightly hypocritical for her to criticise Bruce for missing his wife after that.

Yes, if Hell's Kitchen hadn't coincided with the Hillsborough anniversary, I wonder if he might have stayed. There's no question this was a really tough week for Bruce.
