OK - I've got Media Center TV Pack working pretty good on Freesat, inc BBC HD (never managed to catch ITV-HD when it was broadcasting!). My next BIG problem is getting it onto the lounge TV. I've bought a s/h Buffalo LinkTheater HD box and that streams SD and HD files (via Ethernet) from the MC computer beautifully. The problem is that it won't play WTV files (as saved by MC). I can transcode them to MP2 (when they work) but this is almost a real-time operation so is a real hassle and doesn't work with BBC HD (which is the MAIN purpose of the whole operation!)
As an aside, I also cannot get BBC iPlayer to stream to the LinkTheater, even if I download WMV files to Windows Movie Player. I assume this is to do with the DRM protection.
I COULD buy a Media Center Extender box, but they are expensive and I have no guarantee that they will work with Win7 when we all move in a year or so (I have no access to the Beta).
I COULD give up the whole Microsoft caboodle and move to something like MythTV, but I'm not sure that BBC iPlayer works in that either.
Any thought and suggestions from this community would be gratefully received!
