Pants Man!
Anybody else think this should of won? Ok so the box was rubbish, but the advert was fun, and the tune was catchy. The other teams advert was so dull!

If they had done it right, it would have been good. They should have aimed for Dick 'n' Dom style humor. The song and the advert were fine, but the box was appalling. Normally I'd want any team with Ben on to get fired, but they did really well this week except for the advert.

Loved the advert and the song but hated the concept.

Pants Man was a pants idea.
It was never going to work and should have been dismissed straight away. I much prefered Pirate parrot, it was well thought out and had some good ideas there with the treasure hunting etc. |

I also thought the pants idea had merit, and that the kids could see the funny side...
But it went in the wrong direction, in my opinion, and the box sank it. |

No,
it was stupid. And if I'd been 8 I would have thought it was stupid too. It was one of the worst ideas I've ever heard on the Apprentice. It's possibly on a level with Lee's idea about welcoming aliens to the country from last years greetings card task, lol! |

Also, if you listened to the jingle carefully, they talked about having the cereal before you got out of bed ... how many kids' mums bring them cereal in bed?!

Don't get pants man. I get the desperation in "What makes kid's laugh?" but, the kids don't buy the cereal, the parent's do. And while they recognised that, they went for both markets at exactly the same time!! Not, Hey - adults, buy this for the kids. But, hey, kids, this is like pants, fnar fnar, and adults - it has a sensible name and fruit in it so you can eat it without embarrassment should you fancy, unless of course you often wear your pants on the outside. I mean...eh??? Cuz either way, this has everything to do with what's inside the box doesn't it?
![]() I saw many things they 'borrowed' from elsewhere during that commercial and I think that was the problem. Far too many ideas and no - well idea ![]() As a mother of teens and pre-teens, I couldn't get out of my head that 'pants' means crap. The name of the cereal was hardly snappy (I've forgotten it already, summat about getting up) and the green box?? There's a reason other cereals don't use green! Other than that, the sight of Lorraine trying to look cheerful and trying to imagine Howard for one moment being old enough to father those children or daft enough to father them with Lorraine was enough to tickle me for a while

"Hey kids, remember to put your pants on...err....the way that you normally put your pants on anyway"??? ![]() That's shit. ![]() It's just not a funny joke. It just doesn't work. |

It was really ridiculous. No kid puts their pants over their trousers anyway so eating that cereal will not make them change or do anything different.

Did no-one but Lorraine realise than pants means rubbish?
In a silly sketch this could have worked but for a product - never in a zillion. The presentation was awful because the marketing made no sense. Philip was an utter arse though, saying how "excellent" his team leader was in the hope she would not bring him into the boardroom and then sulking when she did. Cant abide that sort of behaviour, much prefer Lorraine who spoke up before she knew if they were winners or losers. |

I loved the treasure flakes idea - the character, the box, the concept, but let down a bit by the ad.
The pants concept was appauling and embarrasing. Other team members expressed doubt and Phillip screamed them down. I don't buy the attitude that " at least he had an idea". It was meant to be a brainstorming and he had an idea and diddnt let anyone else get a word in. That was the PM's downfall - running with an appauling idea cos it was all they had. I'm an accountant - design and marketing is totally outside my expertise but i could have come up with a better idea in half an hour. Also noone has commented on the name of the cereal - "Wake up call" - that's sooooo naf!!! |
