That has fallen to pieces under different PMs.

Fallen to pieces? Hardly! I agree that the other candidates were a little more reserved during this task but I believe the motivations for this lay more in a reluctance to antagonise Sugar. Her team members cooperated well. Essentially she was extremely lucky....

I sincerely hope Alan Sugar nominates her as PM for another, slightly more taxing task.....

Kate was fantastic and truly deserves to win IMO. Sir Alan is notorious for making terrible decisions though so I doubt she will.

From what Kim said on YF she's an extremely capable woman who should be able to take whatever Sugar throws at her.

I do think her getting it on with Philip will ultimately work against her, which is a pity as she's one of the strongest candidates.

Why on earth would you believe that? It hasn't been an issue for them in the past, why would it be an issue now?

And it was a pretty taxing task. Look at how the other team ballsed up. What more do you want from her?

I think you're seriously under playing her achievement. Both Debra and Ben have been a nightmare to work with in other tasks, under different managers. Under Kate's leadership, they were infinitely better. The fact that both of them showed such improvement strongly suggests that it wasn't a coincidence.

I disagree - in comparison to previous tasks the aforementioned one was far more simplistic. There was far less emphasis on costing during this task (which is where the PMs usually fall down on previous tasks), and there were clear, concise specifications on what was required eg, a character/cereal product etc....

Kim was quite literally unable to exert her authority over Phillip. Had Kate been in this somewhat unfavorable position, I seriously doubt she could control the willful Phil. Then again according to the latest gossip regarding Kate and Phil....

I saw no evidence to suggest that her superior jurisdiction restrained the other dominant/volatile candidates involved in the task.....Other candidates who featured in previous series' modified their behaviour in a bid to keep Sugar sweet, remember Claire ?... I suspect Ben is using the same tact....

Tern - Kim made this remark out of good grace....

Costing is not the be all and end all. In terms of being a PM, I'd argue that creative tasks like this one are far more difficult to manage. Branding is subjective, not cut and dried like figures. It's very difficult to know what's going to work. Everyone's emotionally invested in their idea and takes considerable tact to dismiss ideas yet keep good will. Kate did this extremely effectively.

Coming up with a successful brand and a coherent brand image and strategy is very difficult. For comparison, Kimberley does this for a living and her team made a dog's arse of it. In the real world, what Kate and her team did in a few days takes months. I'm astonished at how good their product was. Their ad wasn't great, but the whole concept, from the name to the Parrot theme, the design, all the info on their box, to the jingle was excellent.

You're making much of the fact that she didn't have to manage Philip - Yet she managed Ben and Debra, both of whom have been more difficult than Philip in the past. (And I'm convinced Ben's too stupid to 'modify behaviour') Anyway, according to the rumours, she would have had no problems managing Philip.
