i find it hilarious how they totally edited out newrole. I am sure he put forward ideas, but that was obviously not shown.

i feel sorry for him in a way.

I think Norole is a rather fitting name for him, what has he actually done?!

What do you expect? The guy's a scientist not a businessman!

He should never have got through the screening process.

I loved when the called him Nurofen on YF. The guy is totally useless.

What I didn't understand was when Sir Alan asked him in the boardroom if he'd had any ideas he said yes (I think!) and then Sir Alan started talking over the top of him and we didn't get to hear what they were!

I think he is the most useless contestant not only in the history of The Apprentice, but in the history of British reality TV (and yes that includes Maysoon from Big Brother!!)

I didn't get the joke

The female panellist just came across as ignorant because she couldn't be bothered to pronounce the guy's name properly.

"Norole" would have been an amusing play on words, but "Nurofen" just struck me as rude and nasty.

Yea, I thought that as well.

I noticed that, it could be down to editing but good manners would at least have least have given the chance to answer the question

Yet it was deemed "racist" when Jade Goody mispronounced Shilpas name...

I can't see why he would have been cast for the show other than for us to laugh at him.

He must have something going for him!

I'm secretly hoping he comes out with some brilliant idea in a task or something and proves everyone wrong!

I think it was Jade's mother who couldn't be bothered to pronounce Shilpa's name so referred to her as "the Indian."

Neither of the examples highlighted are necessarily racist, but they do show a great deal of ignorance.

That's what I'm beginning to think, and in that respect I feel a bit sorry for him.

It may be that it's not editing, and he really is useless. After all, Nick made it his business to watch him for some time and he didn't seem to think much of him.

I feel a bit sorry for him too, he's quite amusing but clearly useless - although I bet he's not as bad as the edit portays... But he just seems to be a science teacher who was randomly cast to appear in the show.

Yeah but that was because they were being racist. Calling her Shilpa Poppadom etc.

I don't see how that's any different to her calling him Nurofen because she thinks it's funny, instead of his actual name?

Because the word 'Poppadum' was a mocking reference to Shilpa's Indian culture whereas Nurofen has no cultural conotations. It just showed the woman hadn't bothered to learn Nooral's name.

The point was he's been so insignificant in this entire contest that she can't even recall his name. What's race got to do with it for gawd's sake?!

Funny- I'd find it equally racist. It's basically like they're thinking: "here's a guy with a foreign sounding name that I can't be bothered to pronounce, so I'm going to replace it with a similar word to make it obvious to everyone that I think their name is ridiculous- which despite being really derogatory, I find incredibly amusing...

That's the way I see it. It doesn't really matter to me whether the word they replace it with happens to be from their said country or not- it's derogatory regardless. It's like making a big show of someone having an unusual or foreign name in an attempt to belittle them.

According to Ed Balls, teachers are supposed to be able to lead and inspire. Don't think we've seen a flicker of leadership or inspiration from Norole

Because had he been called "Dave" I doubt she'd have had the same problem.

You're right

It's all about context though.

Nooral is an expert at Science so he can probably lead a Science class better than a business task.

Furthermore, inspiring a team of ruthless people who are your competitors is very different to inspiring a class of students.

I accept the 2nd part of that to an extent.

Management can be taught, learnt from a book etc, and I'm sure Nooral can probably make a reasonable job of managing a class, but leadership is a gift - you either have it or you don't...& Nooral clearly doesn't! He's way out of his depth.
