I actually think Kate's team produced the best advert and campaign I've ever seen for this show in the entire history of it.

Normally the results are fairly mediocre and its basically the team who makes the least mistakes win. It is SUCH a hard task to get right as there are so many aspects to it and none of them are professionals in this field. But, I think everything from the ideas to the execution was done brilliantly. Even though the advert was criticised I thought it was also very good, and couldn't have really been any better than it was.

Has there ever been a better performing team of a task of this kind?

I thought more of Tre/Simon and co during their trainer marketing task.

No.

Usually both teams are pretty dire. Have to saw that i've never really seen a team work so well together in the history of the Apprentice. Not one arguement, insane!

I thought the product was good, as was the box and the advert.

I can't actually remember much about that task, other than I thought it was quite cringeworthy with the way it had been marketed - and Simon's rap and dance in the ad was quite embarassing.....

In the real world I dont think anyone would want to buy those 'Street' trainers, but I actually liked the look of that cereal and would maybe buy it.

The advert wasn't great, but the box looked fantastic and I think the character they came up with was vastly superior to the other team, and in general did a much better job, and was certainly one of the best marketing task performances there has been.

Always amazes me that people on DS still have memories of all the other tasks in previous shows and previous contestants names! I'm rubbish at that, I forget them as soon as it's over! In fact, I don't know half of their names in this series

They did do well tonight though. I know the ad guys said their actual ad sucked, but I think it was the idea and pitch that were important- after all, they aren't meant to be experts at making ads.

Haha, yes. I had kind of forgotten it myself until I started writing, then it came back into my mind...

You're probably right! And I think their brand name was "Street"

I think I was swayed by the fact that I enjoyed that task much more. It was a more entertaining episode.

Kate was highly efficient, but I was slightly bored.

To be honest, I thought it was a rubbish idea from them. The advert didn't focus on the product, the name was absolutely awful and the box didn't stand out.

Kate's team got everything right apart from the advert which had a weak story, but did focus on the product.

Kate's was the best by far. I was actually cringing at the other team's effort and thought it was pants!

I agree.

I thought calling them Treasure Flakes was a great idea. The box looked fab, with all the fruits and a kind of maze on the back. Even the 'skull and bones' or rather bowl and spoon was a great idea.
Their presentation was fab, and their jingle catchy. The whole team worked together.

They where so good I suddenly became sure the other team would win for some reason, when the pros tried to knock them. But looking back on it I reckon they could well have been jealous that they made such an amazing pitch after just a couple of days

I can see Sugar mixing the teams up again soon

I thought the ideas for the pirate parrot were excellent as I was watching it.
The ideas were just slotting so perfectly together like a jigsaw puzzle.

James and Ben surprised me very much.

The whole concept and all the little ideas were great.
They were all so creative bouncing ideas off each other.
Somebody would come up with a decent idea, then somebody else would develop it further, then somebody else would take it even further, and along the way new ideas were just flying out left right and centre.
That has got to be the best creative performance I've ever seen by a team on 'The Apprentice' even if it might have lacked in some other area.
That was creativity working at it's best, when ideas are bouncing off team members and spawning new ideas which almost seem like they are creating themselves. That's how creativity flows when it's working at it's best.

I think that the eventual winner will come from that team.
Probably Kate, Yasmina, or Debra.

I think that was arguably the best performance ever by a team leader.

Yes, they all worked brilliantly together, but look what happens normally. People always shout over each other and undermine each other's ideas.

So for this to work I think Kate pulled off a performance par excellence.
She was the maestro conducting them all which facilitated it to all happen.
I think it could only have ever happened with a strong leader who could get them all on the same wavelength, to instill the buzz and the energy which made them focus on what they had to do, and to instill the enthusiasm and desire to want to get on together without fighting against each other.

It may seem like I'm overstating Kate's contribution here, but it just doesn't usually happen like that the way it did, so I have to say that the team could only have pulled together so well with somebody having such control over them and keeping them pulling together in the same direction.
She must have actually made them feel enthusiastic about what they were doing so that they didn't even want to undermine each other.

The thing with Kate is that she is also a good team player who doesn't act like a psycho when somebody else is her project manager and she's being led by somebody else.

I agree completely. The scene that summed it up for me was when James and Ben were having the "Batman and Robin" discussion about whether to have the main character as a pirate or a pirate parrot. She jumped in and basically said "its my call and i say parrot".

She did very well, especially during the Batman/Robin/Pirate/Parrot discussion, could have quite easily disolved into a huge (but potentially very entertaining) row, but she stepped in took control, and importantly both James and especially Ben, went with her, with no argument - showed they respected her as team leader.

And kudos to Ben (through gritted teeth) came up with the original concept and was willing to listen to, and develop, others ideas, especially James (who I now adore, great big buffon that he is )

Got to be top 4 material

I thought it was brilliant, and most of the criticisms about the advert, hiring a boy allergic to nuts and so on seemed to be brought up to try and make us think that the other team might have had a chance!

What I loved most was the look on Margaret's face, she seemed genuinely pleased and a little bit proud that they did so well. It must have been such a welcome change for her to have worked with a team that got on and didn't make ridiculous mistakes from start to finish.

I thought they did a great job. They were always going to struggle with the ad - to recreate a desert island on their budget and in their timescale wasn't possible, and with the parrot character 'talking' in the ad, the costume didn't allow the character to look like he was doing so! I could see the ad working really well as a cartoon character mixed in with footage shot on an elaborate treasure island type set!

More embarrassing than Simon's trampoline legs adventure on the teleshopping task?!

I really enjoyed watching Kate's team perform this task - a refreshing change to see a team working together competently and effectively, rather than all the over-inflated competitiveness most candidates feel they have to display these days.

It was the sort of product that I could see being sold as a 'own brand' product at a major supermarket,

I think the only thing wrong was the advert, if the ad could be 35 seconds they would have done a better job as the first 5 seconds was rushed

Excellent idea, glad they won, Strong team, shame it might be mixed next week
