Well Philip's done himself no favours this week.....
A few points.
First off he had to sack Kimberley - she herself admitted it was a bad idea and she chose to run with it so no brainer. Mind you as soon as she said at the start "this is what i have been waiting for" you just knew she was doomed!! (I wish they wouldn't do this in the editing, maks it so obvious.) After seeing his stock rise considerably over recent weeks Philip came across as a bit if an arse tonight, not listening, very defensive and unable to take a step back and actually see the woods for the trees. WHY don't they constantly remind themselves during the task "is this what Alan wants?" IT"S ALL THAT MATTERS. This task was about product branding - the Pants idea was not actually a distinct idea was it? No message at all that related to a healthy kids cereal and that name is truly awful - did they not ask themselves "why are no other cereals named in this way?" Well for once the right team won and it was a comprehensive win from a team that seemed to have 2 very divisive characters in it in Ben and Debra - not sure if this means i have misread them or they have been harshly edited OR maybe they were just "happy" to work for Kate. Whatever the reason they all come out well from it which should serve as a lesson to all of them for the future. I like James and Kate going forward - both have the ability to listen, have ideas, be analytical and crucially are able to get on with people without being dictotorial. Praying for day Ben is PM - what a bellend he is. |

From the start I have been aware Phillip is detrimental.
There is a fundamental flaw in his personality in which his opinion is right; nobody else's matters. Then if he doesn't get his own way, he throws a dicky fit. I actually think he has traits of a narcissistic disorder; they can be quite dangerous. |

I don't think Philip did himself any favours in 4 out of the 5 weeks.
He had one half-decent idea during the gym task, that's it. He simply doesn't have the right attitude or the required skills. |

Too true. He'd seemed likable until tonight. He's really gone downhill.

Think most of the losing team will be cleared out over the next few weeks.

The worrying part was that in the end he still seemed to believe that he'd performed well, that his ideas were good, and he was indignant that he had been called back into the boardroom.....
And then SAS seems to turn around and agree, and say "Why didnt you bring other people in Kimberly?"

I used to like Philip but his anger when faced with something going wromg is starting to grate. I doubt he will win as he is just too aggressive and Margaret doesn't like him.....

What's that spiel it says at the start of each show? "Britain’s brightest business prospects" or something?
So he’s one of Britain’s brightest?! And he comes up with pants man? Seriously… ![]() Deluded wannabe more like. |

He's a petulant little oick who confuses belligerence and bullying for strength of character.

You could argue Philip is the most volatile of all candidates, more so than Debra and Ben. The problem Philip has he can't accept anyone else's opinion. He's near incapable of accepting anyone else's input or if he does accept it it's with a hissy fit and moaning. I can't see Sugar hiring him. Philip is the total opposite of a team player. He's lucky to still be in the show.

These posts sum up my feelings perfectly. I wonder what Philip sees as he watches these shows, I bet he thinks his behaviour is perfect and reasonable. |

I still don't mind Phillip, if he had a TL that had the balls to tell him to shut up he'd be great. If he hadn't driven that idea yesterday they'd have had nothing, the same as the gym task.

Philip's idea for Pantsman, and his refusal to accept that it was a shit idea, was very similar to Ben's confidence in his black box gym equipment - which was also rubbish. Kim thought that the cereal packaging was rubbish, but didn't say that Pantsman himself was a crap character. And Philip can't take the blame for the bright green packaging or the terrible cereal box itself and its lack of design.
James thought that the gym equipment looked rubbish right from the start. James brought Ben back after that debacle, and Kim brought Philip back after his stupid idea. So, the two episodes ran very close parallels - but, Kim is a marketing consultant and therefore should have recognised from the outset that the product and the character were rubbish whereas James isn't in marketing, so couldn't be held totally responsible for not recognising that Ben's product was also shit. Yes, Pantsman was crap. Yes, the Bingo Wings Buster (or whatever it was ultimately called) was crap. But both Ben and Philip came up with something. Nobody else on either of their teams came up with anything - which is why neither Ben nor Philip got fired for having a crap idea. A crap idea is better than no idea at all. However, if either of them forces their idea to the front again, and there are actually other ideas coming from other team members which are just shot down by either Ben or Philip because they shout louder than anybody else, I think it may be their necks on the block next time. Lorraine did have an alternative idea to Philip (the five different fruit characters) but as SAS said to her, that was outside the remit anyway, and nobody else came up with any other ideas except Philip. A marketing consultant should have been able to come up with some ideas, even if the remaining forces in her team (Noobrain, Howard the Duck and Moaner) have the creative output of a wet tea-towel. |

He is quite the brat, isn't he, throwing out tantrums and threats if he doesn't get his own way. As usual with the cocky bullying males, Sugar indulges him instead of holding him up to scrutiny and account for his behaviour.
I couldn't make head or tail of what he was on about from the beginning...something about being naked with pants. That doesn't make sense. What on earth did he think that meant? Is there an explanation? Is he so inarticulate that he couldn't express the idea, whatever it was? Or is it that he is just plain daft, with a completely daft idea? |
