Tefal Quick Cup

hi

has anyone used this - either the original or the new deluxe?

i ask as i have a few questions

1: does it only produce 1 cup at a time or can you pour the whole lot out at once like a normal heated kettle

2: is there a difference between the deluxe and normal as their specs are identical and the regular one is around £30 cheaper

thnaks

I have one of these and it is great.

You dont actually pour out the water though, you press a button and the water is pushed up around the heating element and comes out close to boiling instantly.

You can set it to let out however much water you like. Mine fills a mug 3 quarters full.
You can also have cool filtered water coming out if you prefer.

Not sure on the difference between the original and the deluxe, but I would buy either.

In the mornings I just press and go. Theres no more hanging around waiting for a kettle to boil.

Go on, buy one. You know you want to!

I bought the original version when it first came out and we took it back after trying to use it for a week.

If you are only ever making one cup of tea/coffee it's fine (as long as you don't mind it being a bit cloudy looking and luke warm) but for more than one it takes way longer than using a normal kettle.

Also, no good if you ever boil kettle water to fill a pan for cooking veggies etc, unless you are willing to stand and press the button over and over again and listen to the incessant noise it makes.

All in all, I think they're rubbish

Is the water really hot? Most reviews on Amazon seem to say the water is lukewarm and not suitable for tea or coffee.

Nope, it's nowhere near hot, certainly on the first model they brought out anyway. It's lukewarm and therefore teabags don't really work so well and coffee doesn't disolve very quickly!

A decent 3KW concealed element fast boil kettle will boil a cup in well under a minute for a fraction of the price.

That's what I use. Mine boils enough for a large mug of coffee in 45 seconds.

My mother has a quick cup & I hate it, its so noisy & I think it puts a slight foam on a cup of tea. I have cleaned it out for her & put new filter in but its just the same. I much prefer a normal kettle.

How long does it take?

It does not boil the water to 100 degrees so is not great if you are a tea drinker, there is a disclaimer notice in Comet that says the tea drinking society have given it the thumbs down.

I would say about 10 seconds per 'push' of the button which fills small mug, I have nice big tea and coffee mugs so it takes at least two goes to fill.

They seem to be a waste of money to me, it only takes a minute or two to boil a kettle!

Good concept but let down badly by the product. My neighbour had one and took it back, describing it as woefully inadequate and this man loves his gadgets!

I would avoid, the reviews speak for themselves.

I was thinking the same thing. Are people really that pressed for time they can't wait a minute for a kettle to boil?

We had one but it only lasted 3 weeks before stopping working. And yes the water was not warm enough to make up gravy granules or custard mix. i usually put cold water in my tea to cool it but with quick cup it was already cool.

We would not be without ours now however I dont think it would ever replace our kettle. We never buy milk in our household we use Typhoo QT and the instant Latte type coffee. The temp is great for these but you would need the kettle for Instant custard or gravy.
