Iron your shirts THE NIGHT BEFORE you get summoned at 5.30 in the morning at half an hour's notice.

Then you could have an extra 10 minutes beauty sleep, which all of you really do need badly.

Is it me, or does it look as if nearly every move (by the candidates) is scripted ? - from their silences, right down to what they say (and their body language) ?

This bit of the show always makes me wonder. Do they really only give them 30 mins as most of the applicants seem to be in bed when the call comes.

I usually give myself 30 mins to get ready in the morning but i am still doing my hair etc on the train

They all clearly know what time they need to be ready for, there is no way that the production team would actually give 11 people sharing a house only 30 minutes to get ready, it would be mayhem and everyone would end up going out without half their clothes on.

I've always viewed this part of the show as a set up, but one that I don't mind as it works.

It's quite obviously a set up (albeit a harmless one) because in reality if a phone went in a sleeping house you'd either get several people appearing or no one. Not one 'suspiciously wide awake' person.

No, or course it's not just you you. I still love the show but it was much more fun on BBC2.

The 30 minute call is pretty much scripted, but of no particular consequence. One contestant's regime included making pancakes from scratch during the 30 minutes!

One of these days I'll check to see whether the shirt they're ironing actually matches the one they wear 10 mins later in the Boardroom

...which takes all of five minutes, so is obviously impossible to achieve in half an hour.

theres parts of the show that are scripted out, such as the 30min phone call

another big one is in the sales tasks, when quite clearly the producers get some of the meetings arranged for the groups...big companies just don't drop everything at last minute to have a meeting with a few unknowns. I've always wondered if they get a list of meetings, and have to choose which ones to attend.

LOL. No, but I know how long it takes me to beat an egg, add flour and butter, mix together and pour into a frying pan.

Plus, you shouldn't make pancakes from scratch. The batter needs time to get its act together so in reality it should have been made the previous night.

Which leaves frying them which should take less time than two pieces of bread in a toaster.

Mmmmm, years since I had pancakes!

I recall one of the candidates saying that the 30 minutes are girl 30 minutes rather than boy 30 minutes. They get longer.

I hope and believe that the calls are more or less genuine, though, and that if it says 6am that's what time they got up. It matters. For example, it was easier to understand the Jenny C versus Lucinda row last year if you noticed how little sleep they'd both been getting.
