Ok, so the only way for Noorul not to have his idea`s edited out is if they are the 'driving force' so to speak behind what the team do for that task.

Obviously last night the team went with Pants Man but the week he was PM he had the best possible opportunity to implement his ideas and make sure the focus was on him.

Yes, his team won last week but from what we saw it was in spite of Noorul, not because of him. Would the production team edit so much out if they thought Noorul had a serious chance of winning?

Noorul is a living legend. Quite possibly the most talented, dynamic candidate in the history of The Apprentice:

I think he's just fairly quiet and they are producing the edits to play that up.

In the same way that in past series, candidates that could make articulate and cogent assesments of how things were going were clearly being asked questions that would elicit negative responses (off camera) and these were then edited in to make those candidates seem to be negative and poor team players.

Yeah, I must admit, I too wondered why a science teacher would want to go on The Apprentice, it just doesn't 'go' somehow.

The only reason I can think of is that, as I said on another thread, the quality of the candidates and their so-called business acumen has been going down over the years to the point where even I've started to think 'God, I could do a better job on some of these tasks than these guys' (I'm a library assistant, not a big business person by any means). So Noorul maybe started to think along the same lines, he must be an intelligent guy to be a science teacher. He must also have the force of personality to control classes etc.

However, I think he has found himself sadly out of his depth, as I know I would too if I got on there (don't worry guys, I've no real intention of applying, you won't be seeing Pint in the boardroom anytime soon ).

Is Sir Alan was running a chain of libraries, Noral would be a perfect candidate.

Surely editing can only do so much, though. I know quite often someone can come across quite badly, and then you see them on YF or other programmes, and they seem fairly normal &c, but if Noorul had made some kind of genuine contribution, it would be hard not to show.

I thought they were painting Phillip to be a bit of a plonker on the exercise task, showing him gyrating all the time! But eventually all that jiggling around lead to a great idea. The way he got there might have looked ridiculous, but he produced a result.

Noorul however has not produced such a result or made such a contribution of enough worth to break through his seeming lack of competence, which suggests to me he is just that incompetent.

He failed repeatedly to make decisions as PM and his team members' frustration was evident on several occasions. I cannot believe this was just a few splices of footage cleverly edited. And I can't believe his selling skills and manner suddenly improved but weren't shown. Moreover, both Paula and Kim have shown dismay at the lack of his ability on leaving the show, once editing has finished.

I imagine Noorul in the BR would go something like this:

"Noorul, why shouldn't I fire you?"
"I..Sir Alan, I... I don't know... "

"Listen to me Sir Alan, um, listen... listen... just... um... yeah.. please listen... because. Yeah."

In a posh accent of course!

Noorul is a very interesting candidate if you ask me. He's different to any we've seen so far. For some people, loud=personality, but being quiet is also a personality. I think Noorul actually has one of the most extreme personalities if you look at him in this respect.

And yes, it could have a lot to do with editing, but he is one of the most talked about characters. Plus, they're making fun of him on YF every week now, which isn't very nice. It's not like he's bullying anyone.

He is an extreme character, just at the extremely dull end of the spectrum.

You may be right but if you are it says more about the incompetance of the production company than it does about Noorul.

They have experience of how different sorts of people turn out on the programme.

They can't even claim he was put in for entertainment value because a load of people saying "Noorul is useless, oh, yes he is, isn't he?" is hardly cutting edge entertainment.

I agree. Like I said in a post above, he's not even being the ridiculous character we seemed to have been promised at the outset. The production team should be able to pick out the ones who just bluff but have no real skill or entertainment value. I guess they do pretty well choosing candidates otherwise.

Had he gone in the soap task, it would have been the right time. A bit of comedic value at least. Whereas now the joke is starting to go too far into the competition.

I agree, it's quite clear the editing/lack of exposure contributes to the idea that they're useless. They did the same to Paula until she was PM, although people obviously find her more likeable because she got no where near as much stick as Noorul. If he really was that useless this would've have been picked up on by the rest of the vultures who are all too happy to throw anyone under the bus for any reason. Unfortunately for quiet people like Noorul and to an extent Howard, it's the ones who shout the loudest who end up getting noticed and they tend to be the ones that get further.

I just can't wait to see him on YF to get a clearer idea of what he's really like.

Unfortunately I don't think they are allowed to mention the editing (or much else about the inside workings of the series).

The producers aim for a variety of candidate types. Sometimes they pick people that you might not expect to do well, to give them a chance to see if they confound you. For example, they sometimes pick people who have failed, even gone bankrupt in the past. I think Nooral was picked partly because he's an academic and a teacher and they wanted to see how someone like that would do in a business environment.

Well, Ifti walked during the second episode, so he probably didn't belong there. Lohit and Tuan are another matter.

Tuan posted a lot onto the IF forum, and from that we know a lot about what he contributed behind the scenes. He was good with the numbers, and generally intelligent and sensible, but quiet. Towards the end he got demoralised because Sir Alan kept Syed in the game despite his appalling behaviour. In task 8 Syed missed a deadline, lied about the reason, but Sharon was fired instead. After that Tuan didn't bother to fight in the boardroom because he had no faith in Sir Alan's decisions.

I don't know so much about Lohit, but to me he was also stronger than he got credit for. Certainly stronger than Simon, who won that series.

He reminds me of Anthony Cotton, that annoying **** from Corrie :sleep:

IIRC there is always one candidate with no business background. There was the mature student in series one who got kicked out week one (I think) wasn't there a pharmacist (or chemist or something) who had wacky ideas.

Maybe the producers just put one in for a laugh, they always seem out of their depth when it comes down to the fact that almost all of the tasks are about being Arthur Daley.
