Quick jacket spud Q

OK - I know this has been done before but I couldn't find the thread???

I make the most amazing jacket spuds... they are delish!!! But the one I have for later will take at least 90 mins in the oven and I am very short of time.

Can I do them in the microwave for a bit and then bung in the oven to crisp up?? Will it still be yummy??

I hate using my mircrowave

Yes. I normally cut the potatoes up into halves or quarters as well to speed things up, do them for about 6 or 7 mins in the microwave and then bung them in the oven at 220c for about half an hour.

Yep, you can indeed. Give them a good pricking and stick them in the microwave for between 5-15 mins (depending on quantity and size) - I go for 5 mins at a time until they feel fairly soft all the way through. Then i give them a bit of oil, salt and pepper and in the oven for 20-30 mins.

Still yummy but I know what you mean about using the microwave!

Pierce the spud a few times. Rub with a little oil or water. Sprinkle with salt. Put directly onto grill bars. Keep an eye on it or the bottom burns, but you do get nice crispy bits”
