But the Cockney evolution was natural. This pseudo-Jamaican affectation is often borne of many people (young urban whites in particular) trying to be something they're not. It's a sham.

Loads of young and youngish people speak like that now. It's a mix up of accents that has resulted in, what we in SE London call, "chavspeak". I also dislike the upward inflection at the end of sentences, like a question mark, but that is not exclusive to chavspeak, lots of people do it - though it has gone out of fashion recently.

One of the professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing (James Jordan), speaks like that. He is from Chatham.

I liked Niomi, she showed great character on HK. I think she did very well.

(I didn't realise she was half Jamaican, I thought her father's antecedents were Grenadan)
