Hi Guys, I can't ask hubb this question because we're not talking because I bought a blue light kettle and there was nothing wrong with the one we had

I want to buy this timer, but it says maximum wattage 2000W. Is this ok to attatch to a PVR and a TV? I can't move the TV myself to look as it's too heavy....thanks

The tv and PVR together would add to be less then 2000W so it would be safe to use, but having a PVR on a timer would possibly stop it recording and updating the EPG (depending on the time the timer is in the off position)

It should be fine your tv is probably rated at about 120watts and the PVR is 50 watts

Don't plug the kettle in though not just cos of over-loading the switch but hubby really won't appreciate it.

Ok safe to buy it then, thanks guys

Ps: Best price I could find if anyone looking for one. While looking I found this wee gadget which I'm also going to get as will be great for holidays as it puts a ceiling light on rather than a lamp

Are you sure you really want to attach your PVR to a timer?

Even if you normally never record things during certain periods of the day there's always a possibility that something will get shifted into that region or you might try and record something unusual and forget about the timer.

I've racked my brains but cannot see any reason to attach a PVR to a timer - especially one with such a low standby power as the Humax.

I reckon the timer will likely use more than the 0.75W of the foxsat in power saving sby

It's to attach to my Inverto upstairs Tern as there appears to be some sort of bug thats being downloaded (we think) with 4TV in the early hours. It is leaving all Inverto's with only one tuner unless a reboot is done. Only solution is to put it on a timer

Gas, I'm running firefox already, how do I make it stop those ads happening?

You're probably right Graham but I can't use power saving as I only have one feed at the moment

Oh good, I'm glad there's a reason - I thought I must be going mad.

BTW, looking at the timer, it doesn't seem to have a blue light - what's that all about?

Click this link.. but be warned some web pages don't display properly and you have to allow certain scripts to run for the page to function, although most of the time just allow the parent site to run script and disable the addys

You don't have to turn off power saving for a one cable installation. You only need to do that if you wan't to feed a seperate box like a sky box from tuner1 out. This is to allow the sky box to control the lnb.

In any case the stb uses less than 4W even with power saving turned off, compared to a sky boxes 35W in sby it's still pretty insignificant

Excellent, cheers Gas

Tern, probably just as well as my blue lights might be used as evidence in divorce proceedings

Just to reinterate what has been said earlier. The HDR really needs to have power to it and be in standby overnight. It's then that it does various housekeeping tasks (at 0300 GMT, 0400 BST). It also needs power to maintain it's clock. It will automatically reset its clock when its turned on but you will have to do that yourself as, having lost the time, it won't do so itself. Some of the issues that have been reported may well be caused by the box not being in standby overnight.
