I've become a Cowon fanboi.

Don't worry, I won't go on and on and on though...

Anyway, my new iAudio 7 arrived this morning and I've just been getting to grips with it.
First and foremost (purely personal opinions here of course) believe the hype regarding Cowon sound quality. it's nothing short of superb. I own players by Creative, Sony, Archos and a bunch of iPods and this beats the lot of them hands down. I'm using a set of AKG K340 in ear buds with it and the sound is very rich and full. It can certainly drive these cans with no bother at all. I've not been able to max out the volume yet. I have to stop before ear damage sets in. There also appears to be multiple EQ and enhancement settings to sweeten up low bitrate .mp3's. The battery is rated at 60 hours. I'm not sure what I'll get out of it. I've read in the region of 45-50 though isn't uncommon.

Bad points? It's a bit small for my mitts. The swing touch interface is ok, no problems so far, but it's not the best of controls. The screen can display videos and photos, but at 1.3in it's pointless to even try.

It really is a great little unit. It supports a large number of file formats also which is very handy.

I'll leave it there... for now.

Just to update. The player has been on continuously for about 36 hours now playing VBR MP3's with screen brightness turned to minium. The battery meter has dropped to three bars out of four. I could be looking at close to the 60 hours specified in the manual.

I know what you mean about the cowon sound. I own a Cowon D2 and the sound is amazing. I want to get an Itouch but just cannot bear the drop in sound quality, plus its got enough power to run proper headphones at full volume.

Finally ran out of juice around 11am yesterday.

That single charge lasted for 56 hours on continous play.

Awesome. If they release a 32GB version of this here (its out already in Korea) I am so on board with this device. The screen quality and sound are just phenomenal. The screen is super scratch resistant apparently as well! Check out this link!

Been using an A2 for a few years now. Excellent piece of kit. FLAC played back through decent headphones blows any other handheld I've ever listened to (Sony, Apple and Creative) out of the water.

Video playback on the A2 is excellent as well.

The S9 looks like a seriously nice piece of kit. The screen and sound are class leading by all accounts. Maybe not as much functionality or ease of use as something like iPod Touch but the things it does do, it does with better quality than pretty much anything else on the market.

Awesome battery life as well as the OLED screen is less power hungry than traditional LCD ones.

Very, very tempted .... as christocar sat, 32gb would pretty much seal the deal for me!

(OT - Feel free to ignore this bit, but every click helps! It only takes 30 seconds ... ** Clickity click ** to take on (and support) the DS Brute! )

I'm in as well.

We put the iaudio 7 through a Soundcraft desk and Klein & Hummel O300 reference monitors today. The bloody thing drove them! (With a slight bit of help...)
We rolled off the tops slightly as it was a bit harsh, but apart from that there was at least one engineer with his eyebrows raised.

Sancheez, I fought and lost. Chalk another one up for DS Brute.
