I dont know if these are 100% correct facts but I have been on various websites such as the BBC and wikipedia so they are pretty acurate.

And I am sorry if there is a thread on this already, I just want to mention some stuff I am excited about.

Artists to release albums this year:

Green Day - I dunno, will it be worth it, or just the same old, same old?
Muse - This is gonna be intresting.
Vampire Weekend - I am excited about this, loved there last album.
Arcade Fire - Same as Vampire Weekend, "Neon Bible" is my all time favorate album!!!!
The Klaxons - Haven't heard them.

Hopefully new material from Amy Winehouse. I have a feeling that it will be released in October like her previous two albums were. She is due to perform some new stuff at her 'comeback' gig at Shepherd's Bush Empire on 31st May. I can't wait!

I think Rihanna should be bringing something new out this year as well by the sounds of it.

Apparently, Cheryl Cole's debut Solo Album.

Also, a couple of the girls from X Factor.

Does anyone remember Laura White ? She has mentioned her album will come out in October/November 2009.

Ruth Lorenzo signed with EMI, her album is out in the Summer.

Diana also is signed, I don't know about a release date for her though.

And obviously Alexandra will launch hers on the first Live Show of X Factor.

Outkast (two individually, one together) will be good.

Lupe Fiasco's Lasers in the Spring/Summer.

Erm... Mr Hudson is due for one this year, as is Justin Timberlake.

Probably looking forward to OutKast and Lupe the most. It annoys me, thinking about how many of my favourite artists are either on hiatus (RHCP), or are constantly delayed (Jay-Z) or have just released something recently -- I want more!

I'd always thought that all the sales post-Mutya were pity buys. Huh.

Never thought of that possibility. For me it's just a continued interest in whatever they do musically - they've always appealed to me, so I'll continue to buy their product no matter how many line-up changes they go through.

With that said, they have gone down quite a bit in my estimation since Mutya left. To me, she was the most interesting member of the group (in terms of voice, look, etc.)

According to their record deal their next album will be out in 2010. Whether thats early or late is speculation. But I assume they'll be recording it towards the end of this year (maybe releasing the lead single around Christmas?). But after their tour they're taking a break from the studio and doing separate things for a few months (Sarah is acting, Nicola is doing her make up range, Cheryl is going solo for a bit etc.).

That new Green Day single is pathetic. Normally I'm a fan of their work, but good lord, it's the same riff and melody for the whole song practically. I learned it on my guitar in about 3 minutes. I can't believe they're allowed to get away with releasing such tripe.

The Sugababes are working on an new album in LA from next month but the release date is unknown.

Girls Aloud won't be releasing another album until 2010 and the Saturdays have taken their spot this year. They'll be releasing their second album towards the end of the year which I'm looking forward to.

There are a lot of ex-X Factor contestants coming out with albums this year. It will be interesting to see how they'll market Leona and Alexandra's albums, which will come first?
