Hi

Probably a dumb question, but how do I copy recorded video to a USB drive? I have a 2MB EX3 formatted USB drive plugged in which the HDR is recognising.

I am pressing the OPT+ then selecting file manager, then pressing OK on a previously recorded program, the function box comes up, but 'Copy' is greyed out and the green copy button is also greyed out.

I have tried this on a number of recordings SD & HD, but I can't copy anything.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Martin

Right, I'm in wales visiting so haven't got my box in front of me so this could be sketchy!

when you plug in the USB stick and go into file manager your stick should show on the right side of the screen panel and your programs on the left panel.

you then have to select the folder that you want to copy to on the stick, select the program that you want to copy on the left panel and then press green to move it across.

Someone with a box in front of them can explain this better but I think you problem lies in the fact you don't have the stick selected in the right side pane.

Cheers

Correct the icon you see on the right hand side is the drive icon (just like C:Boot in windows). If you click in the right pane on the drive icon to open the drive to the root folder (or more clicks to open sub folders) then the green button will be enabled when you goto a file in the left pane (unless it's a archive restricted HD recording) as the hdr now knows where to send it to.

Here's another route to do the same ....

Stuff in the USB drive and wait for USB device message
Press media
Press RED for Change device, HDD should now be highlighted in red
Press RED again and now USB 1 should be highlighted in red
The folder sda 1 should be highlighted in yellow
Press OK and USB 1 is now in grey, SDA is still in yellow
Press OK again and the sda folder is now open
Press OPT+ to get File Manager and then OK
The target for a copy is now set
Select what ever you want to copy from the left panel and the green COPY buttomn should become active as if by magic. If your item to copy is from a series recording (eg The Sweeney) then highlight the folder, press OK abd then select the program to copy across.

Do it twice and you will be on auto-pilot

Thanks to all who replied, I got it to work now .

It's not how you would expect it to work and the manual is very unclear. However it is very slow, it took nearly three minutes to copy a fifteen minute episode of the Hairy Bikers to memory stick.
