Am I missing the plot here, Marco is a self indulgent, deluded tosser. What and why are the British public AND the celebs seeing in this man. Eating with a knife! pontificating, as if he is some sort of demi God! Truly a deluded man, who is cleverly manipulating the audience via ITV's very clever editing. Bring back Gordon.

Please explain cos I have now lost the plot big time.

Well, it's fairly simple:

1) Marco is fairly good at cooking - he held, and then gave back 3 michelin stars.

2) He trained Gordon. Or to put it another way, Gordon was Marco's bitch.

Is he a self-indulgent, deluded tosser?

Maybe.

But if he were to post on a forum, he would probably make more sense than you:

"and why are the British public AND the celebs seeing in this man."

It should be "and WHAT are the British public AND the celebs seeing in this man."

And he is better on ITV than you.

I think Marco got it wrong with what he said to Danielle but I do not think it was intentional.

As for his general behaviour - this is an entertainment show - it's Marco playing Marco, in acting terms "hamming it up" - works for lots of us Notin, but obviously not everyone - can you think of just one celeb that is universally liked?.........Me neither!

Marco tries to be aloof, but let's face it, we can all see through the bloke, he's no scary monster, just adores himself and tries to be something's he not for the cameras.

I bet he doesn't tell people in his own reaturants to 'f*** off. after all it's his earnings!.

Gordon Ramsay was so much more 'I'm Gordon Ramsay, I am completely transparent!'

It's all acting with Marco!!

Honestly, I can't explain my MPW obsession. Me and two of my friends could talk about him 24/7. He's unlike anyone I've seen before- I think if you've only seen Marco in this series, it's easy to just think he's an egotistic tosser, but I find him so entertaining when he's giving his words of 'wisdom' and saying the most bizarre things, and generally staring demonically. If you read any of his interviews, or watch his old, very first tv appearances, the death of his mother always comes into it- he clearly has some issues, and therefore I don't think all of it is acting- just a lot of it!

Yeah, I basically find most celebrity chefs quite weirdly captivating.

Apart from Gordon.

Maybe not, as he doesn't tend to swear, but when he was still a chef in his own restaurant he was on occasion known to get into punch-ups with the customers.

He generally didn't talk to them at all when he was throwing them out though, he just used to get the waiters to clear their tables without saying a word if he decided he wanted rid of them.

Tiny?

And wild hair; look to Marco only!

It's interesting to see how some people much preferred Gordon's HK approach, and others (like moi!) think Marco does HK better.

No links but Gordon Ramsey talks about it in his book "humble pie".

I recall Marco being asked about the Ramsay incident on another show. Marco insists that he did NOT make Ramsay cry......."he chose to cry"....."it was his decision"

I don't normally watch HK, as I got bored with it during the 2nd series and with GR in particular who just seems to pop up everywhere on TV. However with MPW taking over HK I decided to give it another go, and he's given HK a new lease of life. MPW comes across as the real deal and as others have said, he taught GR and HB how to cook. He was also the 1st British chef to win 3 Michelin stars. To me MPW is the man in control, but not in an abusive, bullying manner like GR. And he can control his temper a lot better when things go wrong unlike GR which is not easy to do in a hot, pressurised kitchen environment. So full respect to MPW who is a stronger and more mature individual than GR.

Well said MPW was also the youngest British chef to get 3 Michelin stars, and 2nd youngest in the world if my info correct.

I like Gordon Ramsay too but prefer MPW on Hell's Kitchen as I find Ramsay's shouting, swearing and sometimes bullying a bit off putting and prefer him on his Kitchen Nightmares and F Word programmes. Apart from when he's shouting for his crabs () MPW is a lot more nurturing, kinder and more respectful to the participants. I'd have love to have seen MPW with members of the public rather than celebs to see if his attitude would have been any different
