Definitely yes, I lost my first iPod and my replacement unit sync'ed fine.

My partner sync's her iPhone with one of the playlists too, so no problem having multiple iPods off one library.

everything thats in iTunes play counts etc will be carried over to the new iPod when synced

I know this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know how it calculates play counts when you sync a number of devices at different times though?

This would presumably mess-up the play count if you synced a device listened to a song 3 times then synced another device (with the old play count) and then listened to it a few times on that and then synced them both up again. Would it report the total plays or the total plays according to the most recently synced device? Would the first device then be overwritten if it was synced? Does anyone care?

All to do with each iPod logging the plays, then it just adds it to the one currently in iTunes. Basically each iPod is logging their plays since it was last connected to iTunes, so it doesn't matter if they are sycned at different times.

It is as easy as plugging in your iPod. iTunes will lead you through what to do.
