Dr Who Associated "good spots"

I dunno why - call me obsessed if you like

but whenever I watch TV, things related to or associated with Who, always catch my eye

last week, whilst skimming through the channel Watch, it happened to show a trailer for The Vicar or Dibley (a programme I have NEVER watched ) and one of the characters was getting married and had a Dalek as a bridesmaid!

(welllllll....ok.....someone dressed AS a Dalek, although *I* would have demanded a REAL Dalek as a bridesmaid
)

yesterday, whilst watching the Marathon highlights, I loved seeing a woman dressed as a Dalek crossing the finishing line

and - also yesterday - whilst watching The Secret Millionaire, the secret millionaire blokey was in a school that taught excluded children, and he was holding a book that had been covered in little tiny Who pictures and pictures of Cybermen heads The camera was out of focus on the book, but I could work out they were Cybermen heads straightaway and I freeze framed the image to try and work out what the very blurred images of the Doctor were and from what episode they were from

I also heard the term "Doctor Who" mentioned in a telly programme the other day but can't remember who said it or what programme it was now

sad......I know......I just can't help noticing it now......

Not spotted on TV as such, but I have been listening to the Collins and Herring podcast and now and again they will mention something being like a sonic screwdriver, or having a neck like a Sontaran - makes me think of both DW and you, Weedle - the best little Sontaran in Kent!

IIRC One of the bridesmaids was dressed up as Tennant's Doctor, and the rest were daleks
The reasoning behind it was quite sweet though.

Did you hear the one from a while back when they talked about people who had (in real life) slept with various Doctors... which then led them to imagine all the Doctors having a big gay orgy?

That one conjured up mental images I never thought I'd have!

Not yet! I just subscribed last week, so I am only on episode 14. I think the current one is 60, so have a bit of catching up to do, but I'll get there in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure whether I am looking forward to the one you mention or not!

I think it's around number fifty-something, so you've got a while to go yet (after numerous mentions of John Gaunt looking like a Sontaran, and how various companions flashed their knickers)

It starts off with Andrew talking about how he met Sandra Dickinson, so when you hear that - brace yourself!

Yes, they are always going on about John Gaunt looking like a Sontaran!

Thanks for the warning - I'm getting through about 3 a day travelling to and from work, so will probably be next week before I get there!

I was at a car boot sale last week... it was quite warm and sunny and there was this short, old bald guy walking around with no shirt on... he was tanned to the brink of orange with a fat belly hanging over his shorts and had his eyes screwed up against the bright sun (no sunglasses).

I immediately thought... Sontaran !!!

I've notice there's been a few Who related questions on The Weakest Link lately.

Made my day it has.

Oh I haven't watched that for a while. Pity as I would have been excited at a mention too.

I just forced a Golden spot on 6 Music by doing 6 degrees of seperation between Matthew McCaunahey (?) and David Morrissey (except I did it in less) in a Doctor Who fashion!

Matthew Thingy to Julia Roberts (neither use deodorant and are proud of it) Julia to Eric Roberts (bro and sister) Eric Roberts to John Simm (both played the Master) and then John to David Morrissey as both in State of Play but could have equally been both in Doctor Who. I feel so proud of my geeky mind right now!

Okay this is slightly rubbish....but yesterday while walking down a main road, behind one of those triangular road work signs, the letters "TW" was sprayed on.......and I was smiling like an idiot when I saw it!!!!!!!

Dr Who was mentioned by the cafe owner to the Sheriffs daughter in the US science fiction show "A Town Called Eureka" He said "I love that show". As this bit was timelooped - it was repeated more than once...

It was either last week or the week before on The Big heads, sorry, Eggheads, () and the question was which planet is The Doctor from!!! I loved it!!! Daphne got it right and it was the only time I've ever enjoyed her getting a question right, usually I swear every time she does!!!

Bumping this up because there was a brilliant 'Who' mention yesterday

Whoopi Goldberg was on This Morning yesterday (an interview filmed sometime in the middle of May) with Phil and Ruth.

Whoopi mentioned that she had been her absolute desire to be in Star Trek as a "monster" and that wish had been granted

Phil asked her if she had "heard of Doctor Who" and she replied "of course I have!" and did a good impression of the Tardis's whoooshing noise and then said she knew that a new Doctor was going to be on board and that she would "lovvvvvvve" to be cast in it . Phil told her to tell the BBC as he thought they would "love it" if was to be cast

I was quite impressed that she was "a fan" etc and seemed genuine about it.

big it up for Whoopi

ooh just spotted another one today

on David Dickinson's Real Deal, two FANTASTIC Daleks made by Palitoy in the late 60's early 70's in excellent condition.............one was red and one was blue and there wasn't a scratch, lump, bump or any bits missing from either of them, so they were obviously well cared for (or not played with

the dealer paid £210 for them!!

and how much did the owner originally buy them for??
