The new Horrors album
Is it REALLY that good? every review I've seen is surprisingly overwhelmingly positive. I thought the first album was poor scenester throwaway rubbish apart from one song "Count In Fives." I'd like it to be good coz i think they've got potential but we'll see

I was unsure as well, as I thought the first album was absolute tripe and they were the very definition of hype over talent.
However, I listened to it last night on Spotify and was very impressed. Geoff Barrow of Portishead has produced it, and you can tell his influence. There are parts that sound very like Three by Portishead. It's very 'garage rock', much more varied than their first album, and a lot more ambitious (there are 2 tracks which last over 8 minutes, which I know sounds horrendous, but it really works). It reminds me of Spiritualized in places to be honest. I've listened to it a couple of times now and am pretty tempted to buy it. And if you'd told me a couple of weeks ago I'd be contemplating buying a Horrors album, I'd never have believed you. If you've got Spotify installed, check it out. |

In the one review I've read of it, the reviewer was pretty much saying that he also expected it to be crap because their first album was indeed indie by numbers throwaway rubbish, but that in fact it turned out to be surprisingly good - probably due to the influence of Geoff Barrow as producer.
I'll probably give it a listen to check it out for myself. |

Didn't get the first album but from what I've heard from Primary Colours is good.
Herer's a preview: http://www.readplatform.com/listen-n...album-platform Who can say and Sea within a Sea are the best I think. |
