Ok why cant this happen?

My PS3 will play movies or music stored on my laptop so why cant i wirelessly sync my ipod touch with my laptop via my router

Anyone know if this would be possible to do at some point in the future ie is the hardware / software capable of this. Then speculate if apple are likely to make this happen

Because of MobileMe. If they allowed you to sync over WiFi then MobileMe would offer much less for the money for the average (none business) user.

I think Apple have purposely omitted such a feature.

The point I was making was that if Apple made it possible to sync over WiFi MobileMe would have less appeal.

No, he just means sync with iTunes, this has nothing to do with MobileMe.

You can if you use google synch your calendar and contacts over the air and it works really well. I use the calendar option as it integrates into Outlook really well as well, all though but there is no option to synch gmail contacts with Outlook properly at the moment.

Much nicer having a email address at my own domain then a mobileme one.

As for syncing wirelessly with iTunes that surely has to be on the drawing board for the future. The security part of it should not really be a issue as I am sure they can set it so it only ever syncs with your PC, the only reall problem I see is if what would happen if you ran out of battery mid sync.

But for now I am content with just getting my email and calendar over the air.
