Is he sure that both tuners are getting a signal. If he has 2 cables try tuning to 108 starting an instant recording, tune to 951 BBC CI start a second recording. He should then be able to watch and pause any other channels. If he has only 1 cable is the loop from tuner 1 out to tuner 2 in fitted ?

He states both signals are fine and if he starts an instant record then he has no problems only pre programmed recording give problems

That confirms both tuners working. As GC says factory reset next thing to try.

Just for reference, if you set the box up with only 1 aerial connection it remembers this and so it doesn't work properly if you connect a second aerial connection.

You must either set it up with 2 aerials connected or do a factory reset when you add a second aerial.
