My friend has a bright yellow budgie that we call custard although that isn't it's name and whenever I take my dog around it makes the most loud noise! Teasing my pooch! He thinks he is safe high up in that cage

I've got 2 budgies. We got them when they were babies (about 9 weeks old so I was told) last October and I still call them my babies now even though they like to think they're all grown up!

One budge is sort of an olive green on his body and then he's got a yellow face and he's called Tigger or TigTig which my OH hates . He was named within a day or so, and then we kept referring them as "Tigger and the blue one" because we couldn't decide on the other name. After about a week or so his name just became Bluey and I'm sure you will all be shocked to know that he is blue (althought he has got a tinge of yellow to his face and tail so I say it looks like he's been dunked in a tub of p**s so I do occasionally call him p**shead!

Hi there. Welcome to the Pets section!

I have two budgies. One called "Ed" and one called "Samantha" They are both currently sitting quietly, which is rare.

I have had budgies all my life and totally adore them.

My mum and dad breed budgies so at the moment their aviary is in total chaos because they have just put in the nesting boxes. Fights, beak lockering (as my mum puts it!), lots of "how's your father" and just total chaos. They all have names, so in effect have personalities!!

I've got 12 Cockatiels and 8 budgies outside in an aviary, and three budgies indoors at present. One of those has recently been given to me, and it's so wild, I'm calling it Psycho! She's going out in the aviary with the others as soon as the weather warms up a bit, can't risk her getting too cold overnight. Two of my boy cockatiels are 18 years old and still in good health, the youngest ones are about 3. I used to keep all sorts of different species of birds but have cut down a lot over the years. They are a big tie (I've not been on holiday since 1990, apart from a few days here and there when I have to pay someone to come and look after all my pets)

I have a blue budgie who is nearly 2 years old. She loves to squawk along to the radio and is quite bossy. I also have a couple of cats and she frequently tells them off (thought I'd never leave her alone with them!)

sister's thinking of getting an aviary of them in the side of the old shed over the summer though, or a pair of kakarikis
she wanted one of the larger parrots, but she doesnt have the commitment to keep them mentally well wnough

I've got three budgies, all rescue birds from the local RSPCA. Two are male, one is female. I have two huge indoor aviary cages in my living room - in fact ALL I have in my living room is their cages and the guinea pig cage and the settee - there's no room for anything else. One cage has a male and female and the other is a male on his own because he's very defensive and gets nasty with other birds, although he's nice really! He nibbles my fingers to say hello!

I've been ill for ages with breathing problems and the stupid NHS wanted me to get rid of my birds because they claimed it was them even though I've had birds all my life. I think they think you must live in a foot of bird droppings if you have birds or something.

In the past I've also had canaries and cockatiels and other budgies. I love my birds!!

The breathing problem is getting better now too since I gave up on the NHS and went the herbal route with herbal anti-inflammatories and a salt pipe (which is BRILLIANT and I would definitely recommend for anyone with a bad chest). Which kind of shows it isn't the birds really. Not that it was ever an option to not have them anyway!

People are funny about birds though, it's like they think they aren't as relevant a pet as the larger animals, but I love my birds!! Actually I'm promising myself to change the apple branch perches in their cages this weekend so they'll go mad chewing the new stuff!!

He's a beautiful colour.

My grandad had a budgie when i was growing up. I found out not long ago that it wasnt the same budgie he had had about 3 but named it joey so we wouldnt be upset that it had died apparently out of his 6 grandkids non of us ever noticed that the budgie's appearance had drastically altered

I have an African Grey Parrot, a Green-cheeked Conure, and a lovebird. I love them all to bits.

My username "Erithacus" comes from the latin name of the African Grey species.

He's gorgeous. I also have a Chippy! Here's the pics, first one of him, second one is Alfie, who has appeared to change sex twice now in the four years I've had him/her. Was originally a male with blue cere, then for two years this went brown and crusty so I assumed was a hen. Now for past year it's gone back to blue! He can't fly either, used to be in the aviary, but has been indoors now for about 18 months, gets on great with Chippy as you can see from the last photo.
