Sh was not right to shout at Nick.. she shoud learn to show respect and find alternative, less hostile ways to express herself.

When SirAlun suggested this to her and said do you understand...her answer was:

'Yeah'.

not Yes

but 'Yeah'

very disrespectful.

Oh for goodness sake. Aren't you just making up reasons to find fault with her now? How is "yeah" instead of "yes" disrespectful?

But Sralan's diction is worse than that, if that's so bothersome to you. And let's not even start with his grammar...

Debra should have waited until Nick had finished speaking before voicing her opinion. That way she would have shown respect and been able to hear exactly what Nick's point was before she jumped in with her dagger stilettos uppermost for maximum damage.

Debra didn't do anything wrong except refrain from jumping over the table and grabbing Old Nick by the collar and swinging him around until he apologised for his egregious unfairness. It is not the first time I have noticed the creep's bias, either.
The one who should have been fired is the doesn't-know-his-arse-from-his-elbow, chauvinistic and cowardly Nick (see how he wriggled out of it on You've Been Fired, the slimy so-and-so).

However, Debra had every right to defend herself against Nick's comments, but she didn't do it very well. If she had made her point calmly and diplomatically, SAS would have thought better of her, and we would all have forgotten about it. Debra reminds me of my nearly teenage daughter. Virtually everything she says, every reaction, is hotheaded and frequently rude.”

I'd have to watch the scene in the bookshop again to make sure, but I remember thinking at the time that Debra was right in what she was saying (although wrong in how she was saying it).

That aside, even if she was right, she handled it badly. You can show real passion and belief in what you are saying, while still remaining respectful - something Debra could do with learning.

Watching somebody else do the negotiations and then sticking your hand out and saying deal requires zero talent. A two year old could do that, yet according to Nick "closing the deal" is all that matters.

"Yeah" is common parlance these days, so I don't see that as disrespectful. Even if its not as well mannered as saying "yes", it is a very minor point. Shouting someone down is disrespectful.

Certainly that would normally be preferable. But in the Apprentice boardroom I get the impression you have to interrupt if you want to get your say.

She could have said it more calmly but she was right and needed to get her point across, she was frustrated at Nick's comments and hey it showed.

Debra: I think £100 is the lowest we could go to as a group, would you be happy to go ahead and shake on that?

Book Dealer: Yes. [SALE CLOSED]

Debra: [unintelligible, interrupted by Ben]

Ben: £100, that's fantastic [leans over to shake dealer's hand]

Debra: Thank you very much.

Ben: Thank you very much, brilliant.

Debra closed the sale. Ben muscled in at the end to grab the kudos and Nick fell for it because Ben spoke loudly and Debra spoke quietly. I used to hate people at work like Ben, the irritating little so-and-sos all too often got the promotions. Ben did that more than once this week, I sooo want him OUT!

But Debra defended herself in the boardroom very badly.

Thanks for that. Pretty much confirms what I thought - Debra closed the deal, with Ben attempting to grab some of the glory. I would have thought that Nick would have seen straight through that.

I can't blame Debra for being annoyed, or for speaking up, but I think she could and should have worded it differently. It came across as a tantrum, even though she actually had a valid point.

You are confusing YOUR perception of reality with what the Producers edit for us!!!!

Nick didn't "fall" for anything! He is there to observe continually, and is a very old hand at this game.

I'n no fan or Ben's, OR of Debra's.

Ben = Mouthy gobshite who got a scholarship to Sandhurst (or so he repeatedly tells us).

Debra = Mouthy gobshite with neither respect or manners. Her parents must be squirming, watching "their little girl".

You read my mind!

I thought afterwards I should have added that she should have grabbed Sugar by the whiskers and spun him around until his teeth rattled.

Depends whether she wants the job or not.

If she does then no she wasn't. If she doesn't then she can talk how she likes to who she likes.

If she doesn't want the job - she shouldn't be there!!!

Remember, it's not just what we see on TV - they have all been through an intensive selection and evaluation process first.

That's Alan Sugar's problem, not ours.

My perception of reality (and yours) IS what the producers edit for us. In the absence of a live feed, that's the only way we can judge it and it is clear from that apparently uncut (albeit short) clip that Debra closed the deal. Ben's "muscled in" handshake was not closing the deal, the dealer's softly spoken "yes" in response to Debra's question was that: she invited him to buy at a specific price and the dealer accepted her invitation. Nick may have missed it, the dealer spoke so quietly - but I'm not criticising Nick, he can't hear everything. I am criticising Ben and Debra, for different reasons and I don't disagree with your assessment of them both!
