Over the last few weeks, Phillip has shown a level of selective hearing that I can only compare to my five year old son.

Does he ignore Lorraine to annoy her or does he really think that his ideas, his way of doing things is best?

The latter i suspect, i really wanted his team to lose just so margaret could stick up for lorraine.

He really does think he is something. :yawn:

Agree. I was willing him to loose and was glad Margaret did get it mentioned in front of SAS. The look on Lorraine's face was a picture.

I was wondering about this last night too. It's complete, total arrogance on his part. I think he feels threatened by her. She's not afraid of challenging him which I think he find threatening. I just couldn't believe the way he dismissed her last night, not taking any of her ideas seriously.

As a task manager, he shouldn't behave in that way. He is meant to encourage and get the best out of his team. All ideas should be considered and not shot down because of a personal reason.

That is something I found extremely irritating over the past few weeks, he only hears what he wants to.
When someone disagrees with him, he totally blanks the person and later accuses them of being negative (like he's doing with Lorraine all the time)

Just as bad was denying that she had pushed to get a realistic valuation on the rug.

Totally agree with this thread. have never seen my opinion of someone change so rapidly. Philip clearly has Lorraine down as a person not to be taken seriously and so dismisses everything she says as ridiculous. But then to accuse her of lying when she always said the rug was valuable!

I was hoping that they'd lose so he could be torn to pieces by Siralan. Can't stand the guy anymore.

Phillip is quick to dimiss others and that annoys me. He lied his face off in the board room by saying that she hadn't said anything about the rug until the end of the day when they were coming back. I was sat watching it and hoping that his team would lose so he could be exposed properly. I'm glad Margaret made her comment about Cassandra but I do think - that may be a double bladed sword for Lorraine in future tasks.

I agree with all of you. I quite liked him at first, well not so much liked but thought he was a strong contender, now I absolutely abhor him.

I don't particularly like Lorraine either but his rant at her last night for 'not mentioning the rug' all day just infuriated me! I really wanted him to lose and get fired, but alas, we live to be infuriated another day.

I'm sure Lorraine can be a bit irritating and negative, but that doesn't mean he should write her opinions off. What harm would there have been in letting her do a bit more research into the rug? Gah!

I do find Lorraine slightly negative but I wonder if this is because she and her ideas pretty much get shot down by everyone, most of the time.

Lorraine's face was a picture - almost like she thought she was dreaming - when Margaret said that she had heard Lorraine going on about getting the rug valued and Philip ignoring her.

It was a moment of sheer delight!

Like the obvious look on SurAlan's face, Lorraine wasn't sure what Margaret was talking about either *lol*

Lorraine comes across as a very bad team player. She is very negative without coming up with solutions to problems. Its all very well saying she was right all along but from what I see does not offer any viable alternatives. The pants man incident was a good example. Her idea was worse than Philip's because it did not fit the rules of the brief but she kept going on about it.

I'm glad Phil and Ben, the two most cocksure candidates got a rude awakening this week. I went from disliking Phil to liking him and after this week I'm right back where I started. I can't stand such blatent liars.
As for Ben, seeing how much he crumbled in the boardroom this week I hope he's realised being a cocky git isn't going to get him places.

It's very hard to play in a team when any contribution you try to make is ignored by an oaf like Philip.

This makes two episodes in a row where she has tried to steer the team away from a disasterous mistake and just been ignored.

Her cereal idea needed work but anything would be better than associating something for children to eat with underpants.

When someone moans from the second they are awake to when they finally lay down their head you can be forgiven for missing something as you try to tune out that incessant drone.
Don't get me wrong Philip is a dick, probably the biggest dick in there but I can't really blame him for not listening.

I agree with this. Although Lorraine has been instinctively right on a number of occasions, she seems to find it more satisfying being right rather than actively doing something about it. She gives in too easily, just goes wth the flow, happy in the knowledge that she's been vocal about her opposing views and hoping that they'll count for something in the boardroom. Being right about something is only a small part of the battle. Last night's recognition of this by Margaret may give her the kick up the backside she needs

I know it's hard when it seems like she's been shot down all the time but if she can't hold her own and stand her ground, then she's not looking too hot a candidate for the dog-eat-dog world of Alan Sugar's business.

But once the vultures here take a dislike to someone they can do no right.

If she persists she's a negative harpie who undermines the team leader and brings the team spirit down.

If she makes her point and then gets on with the task she's not standing her ground.

I was very pleased to see that both Margaret and AS seemed to appreciate that she had tried to make an important contribution and it was no fault of hers that it was ignored,

AS particularly likes it when he can see candidates have taken his advice and this was very clear when Lorraine explained that she'd played down the negativity.

Well yes, but it IS a reality tv show, they've all got to fight to stay in and although I like Lorraine and think she's one of the more intelligent candidates there, she's got to combine that intelligent with a bit of fight. She just needs to up her game. Let's see what she's like next week and if the lessons learned this week have made any impact.

Philip is an unpleasant oaf, of the kind who thinks that just because he was born with wedding tackle automatically makes him superior over every female, and most men. To Philip, women have one purpose in life and it's certainly not to be in the boardroom. He's not even attractively misogynistic (dragging by hair to cave type), he's an arrogant eejit, whose opinion of himself far exceeds his actual ability.

I'm not a great fan of Lorraine, but there comes a point where you just have to hope that Margaret's listening to what's really going on and leave Philip to garrotte himself on his own ignorance.

Despite Ben proving himself to be a total arse over the last few weeks, I actually found myself rooting for him in order to see Philip fall flat on his face!!

What astounded me the most was in the taxi after they'd sold the rug, saying to Lorraine she'd only piped up once it was too late?!! He seems to forget that both the cameras and Margaret were there the whole time! His face in the board room was a picture though, his poor ego seemed mightily confused
