I would definetly say they've improved the competition - the mistake that I think was made last year and in series 2 was that the tasks focused to much on sales. The tasks here seem to include other facets of business, like valuing items, creativity, design, strategy, etc. They obviously learn from their mistakes.
I also agree the best candidates are better than last years best. I reckon Claire's great sales skills were not reflected in her management skills, which Yasmina and Kate clearly have - while also being very good at sales. And those two are no doubt much better than Lee Mcqueen (so long as their CVs are honest

).
I don't think it is as good as Series 1-3, but it's very close. I may even include it in this "bracket" if this series continues to prove itself well.
For me, Series 1 and 3 are probably the best two. Series two did have great characters like Syed and the Badger, but it wasn't there in terms of quality of candidates. I reckon if Series 5 keeps improving, it will probably be as good as those two other series. Series 4 was so loathsome in terms of its candidates that it is not even close to series 2. There were a few likeable and capable characters, but sadly they got eclipsed by the loud and stupid people.
