The Bill/Jools Holland Didn't Record
Ramsay Ladders
30-04-2009
Jools Holland's show on Tuesday and The Bill this evening are both set on series record but both of these shows failed to record this week. In the case of Jools Holland the next episode is now in the schedule for next Tuesday but The Bill is still at the top of the list with this weeks episode.

Anyone else had this issue and what would cause this?

I just got my dad one of these and he's just rang me saying the same thing about The Bill. Weird, wonder what is causing it!

Yep- same here with The Bill. Is it something to do with the name of the show including the actual name of the episode? Was it the episode scheduled or was it changed?
Britains Got Talent is having trouble too. I had that set to record and the last two weeks it didn't. So when it was on last Saturday, I manually told it to record but then it didn't record Britains Got More Talent afterwards, when I had that scheduled!
The schedule doesn't make sense half the time anyway- there were things on it tonight that were dating last month! Getting really, REALLY fed up with this box.

I had the same problem with Jools H. and was suprised that no one else had reported this sooner. I suspect that it was down to the BBC not transmitting the start flag (assuming your using the auto record as opposed to padding as I too am). You may find that 'The Bill' schedule will update overnight when the stb does it's 'house-keeping' though I don't know why it failed.. If you still want to record J.H then it's available on HD on Friday night at 23:35 and it is actually a longer version than the tuesday night one

I suspect the BBC is at fault in the case of Jools Holland's show. My series recording of Mad Men on HD didn't stop at the end, but also recorded Jools Holland as well. Taken with other peoples experience this suggests that the flags were not properly set by the BBC, rather than a failure by the HDR.

Interesting, I had both CSI (Five) and Mad Men (BBCHD) scheduled via series link and both failed to record. I wonder why yours recorded, albeit with 'extras'!

I ended up recording the repeat of Mad Men, which I didn't notice at the time, was scheduled to finish 5 mins. early, maybe because the BBCHD channel had to end transmission at that time. Had to watch the ending on iPlayer.

Odd, because I was also recording CSI as well as Mad Men, and this had no problems, even though I was also recording Dan Cruikshank on Kew. That was cut short because it would have overrun, so maybe there was a knock on effect preventing recording from ending when Mad Men finished.

I had the same problem with The Bill. Did not appear on the media list and was still in the schedule. Eventually The Bill did appear in Media list but said "Failed to record. Unknown Error"

I recorded The Bill on 30/04 and had no problems.

Did you have a folder already on your system because I delete mine after watching them so it was a fresh recording so to speak.

It was the first time my dad had even recorded the bill so no folder there. Maybe it's a regional thing, I'm in Tyne Tees area if that makes a difference.

I do have a folder for The Bill although on closer inspection there was an empty recording entry for this weeks failed episode on its own and not in the folder.

Just glad I am still running concurrent recordings with my BT box

Thanks for all the feedback folks.
