Can anyone help me? I am trying to find a track from the 1990's (possibly around the Britpop era). The song contains the names of a lot of famous people and I think one of the lines is "elton john, peter pan, captain scarlet, superman"....
Does anyone have a clue?

Sounds like it could be 'Hello' by The Beloved, although the lyrics are all wrong.

Or 'Can U Dig It' by the mighty PWEI

Both listy type songs, but don't reference the exact names you've got

Sounds like 'We Didn't Start the Fire' by Billy Joel- that's definitely not Britpop though!

I agree it does sound like We didn't start the Fire by Billy Joel. It was a hit in 1989 but he is American so definately not Britpop.

I've found a track called Superstar. Lyrics thus...

I don't know what they're saying
May be I'm too naive I fantasise it's in my nature
But you're not make believe And I'll never forget you
To think I would as if I could ever find anyone like you again

Georgie Best Superstar Stanley Bowles QPR Alan Whicker
Peter Pan Captain Scarlet Superman Hayley Mills Rodney Bewes

I don't know where they live
I never see them on the bus But I know they live forever
In the Universe

And I'll never forget you
To think I would as if I could Ever find anyone like you again

Sally James Johnny Marr Charlie's Angels Cantona
Jimmy Osmond Kurt Cobain Hughie Green John Wayne
Peter Purvs Una Stubbs Oliver Reed Billy Liar Elt and Rod
Maradona hand of God Alvin Stardust Cilla Black
Robbie from Take That Tommy Cooper Jodie Foster
Barry Sheen Traci Lords Robert Johnson's lost chord Tarantino
Walter Mitty Suffragette City
