Missed Melissa, as she adds a touch of class.
Gilles, & Shawn seem to have gone downhill this week, and appeared as if either they were just plain tired, or that they had had enough??!! Chuck definitely lost that breakthrough he made last week with his samba, & by this stage Julianne should have managed to get through to him not to put his hands up as if he was trying to stop traffic. Ty - well, Ty is just Ty. There is something endearing about him. Thank goodness for Lil Kim - she really acted out her paso and did a great job. I have to admit at the beginning of this series, I didn't take to Kim at all, with her talk about prison etc. But as the show has gone on I've changed my mind. She never moans, never whinges, but just gets on and works hard. At this rate, I could see her winning. The results show was very good, although I didn't much like the guest singer, I did like the dancing that went with his songs. Really liked the pro-competition dancers. My vote would definitely go with Anna, but then I suppose I'm a bit biased, as I've been a fan for years! Never seen her dance Latin before though, and was impressed! |

Hi kaycee, good summary as ever
![]() I'm not sure Gilles has gone downhill, I just think that the Lindy Hop is a silly dance for this show. He was fab in the team Tango, especially at the end. I also missed Melissa, and I think it's a shame she got so much criticism for a decision made by the show producers, especially as it wasn't the first time it had happened this season. Not sorry Chuck has gone, I think they got a little too sure of themselves, and expected far more fan support. I was expecting Ty to go though - he's grown on me a bit, but he's still not very good, imo. Lil Kim was good, but she was doing something strange with her face in the Paso. I seem to have forgotten Shawn's routine already, which probably sums it up! The results show is still too long. I'm glad they've replaced the kids competition with the new pro one, I wasn't very keen on the singer (although the pro dance in his first song was pretty good), and the Dance Match/Endorsement bits were just filler. Do we know what anyone's doing next week yet? |

Thanks Echelon. Got to feel a little sorry for Ty, having to do the rumba the same week as Gilles.

I just can't see Ty doing A.Tango or rumba - both are dances that need emotion, and I just don't see him possessing any!

Hello! This is my first post on these forums so I hope you don't mind me joining in.
This is not intended as spam but just as info! I wanted to let you know (in case you didn't already!) that Jamie Cullum will be performing on this Tuesday's results show! For more information, visit http://www.jamiecullum.com Here is the write-up about this week's show: Jamie Cullum performs the Cole Porter classic "I Get a Kick Out of You," joined on the "Dancing with the Stars" stage by International Grand Ball Champions Agnieszka Kazmierczak and Urs Gaisenhainer. Cullum is a worldwide star noted for his raw energy, insatiable musical creativity and fearlessly engaging live performances. He's been called a "one man British invasion" and, with sales of over 5 million albums worldwide, has been hailed as the UK's most successful jazz artist. Most recently Cullum was nominated along with Clint Eastwood for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for their composition, "Gran Torino," to go along with Cullum's previous Grammy and Golden Globe nominations. Would love to know what you guys think of the performance!

Agree with you on the Rhumba but very few celebs pull this off but will agree to differ on the Tango - he has shown he can assert the proper postuer(?) and I actually enjoy his latin dances ![]() Raven |

My thoughts this week -
Gilles & Cheryl - Hated the hair and the costumes. Performance was okay, but Gilles seemed a bit heavy footed to me this week maybe from jumping too high? Not sure about three 9s either, but based on what came later I guess it was right. Lil Kim & Derek - Loved this Paso! She looked stunning and is looking like a serious contender now to me. I think she is losing weight, especially from her legs and this is making her lines even better! Chuck & Julianne - I've gone right off Chuck as he's just a tad too arrogant for me. I though Bruno was spot on and the performance was worth about an 8. Loved Julianne's dress. As much as I love watching Julianne dance for me this couple are over rated and I'm glad they have gone home now (still hope to see Juilanne again though). Shawn & Mark - I liked this and thought it had quite a variation of steps. I do think Shawn struggles to be slinky though! Again I agreed with Bruno's 9. Melissa & Tony - What a shame as that looked like a great jive. They were lucky to get 7s but I'm glad they stayed in. Ty & Chelsie - Much better than I thought it was going to be! Those sharp dips Chelsie did were fab! I think an 8 was right. Group Dances - I hated the music chosen for both group dances - yuk! I loved watching Lacey which surprised me as she doesn't normally do it for me. Her shorts style leotard was much better than the normal style and she also looks like she slimmed down a bit. I thought the tango was much better than the mambo (didn't like the men in tights thing at all) and how just good was Ty??!! Results Show - For me this was the worst results show in ages. The only bit I really liked was competition for a new pro dancer. Genya and Afton were okay, but Mayo and Anna were amazing and I'd love either of them to make it through! |

Sadly unless he pulls the Rumba out of the bag it wouldn't be fair for him to stay any longer.

I'd have to agree with kaycee, I just can't see him getting the emotion for an AT. I fear it's going to be a bit robotic.....
I'm trying not to think about the rumba. Apparently the music is Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. Doesn't immediately make me think rumba. |

I would agree if he was doing Ballroom Tango, but the Argentine tango is something different - hot and spicy!!!!
![]() I also expect the VT of their training will show how hard Ty will find it to be 'intimate' with Chelsie to perform both the Rumba and the AT! They might get away with a romantic Rumba, but I can't see him producing the heat needed for an AT and they could end up on the floor if they try any gancho leg stuff! - fingers crossed though!

But if you watch his feet and legs, he is atrocious, no control whatsoever. And he is still devoid of all expression (other than complete "blank") which is an essential part of rumba and AT. Dancewise, I agreed with Len when he said it was time Ty "hit the trail", though not sorry Chuck has gone! |

I'd have to agree with every word of that. I also think Jewel probably hasn't done him any favours with her comments this week.

Thanks for explanation and links.
So the claws are out!!!! Jewel is right about people wouldn't be allowed to be judged on a training tape on any other sport..... except for the fact dwts is NOT a sport. It is a (tremendously good) entertainment show based on dancing, but at least 60% of the stuff they dance wouldn't be allowed if they were in a real dancesport comp! I prefer the last rehearsal tape being used as opposed to someone just having to leave the show because they couldn't dance on the night, as that makes for a more boring (or controversial) final. |

changing the subject slightly - was the little girl sitting next to Jewel last week their daughter? I thought she might be but then Jewel hardly acknowledged her so I thought maybe not.
Personally, I think Jewel should have kept her nose out of it all - it's unlikely that Ty will win and if he does it'd be a travesty. As much as I like his character and enjoy his dancing he really should be on his last week as he is the weakest dancer left. As someone else said above, it's a dance competition which is also an entertainment programme so to liken it to a 'sport' is ridiculous. |

She jumped on the whole Melissa injury thing and said there was no other sport where you can get judged on your practice score if you're injured for the main event. It was reported as 'Dance or Leave', but I'm not sure if that was 100% accurate. Then back-tracked a couple of days later on Ty's myspace blog saying she wasn't trying to claim it was unfair.

I quite like the approach of scoring the rehearsal footage. The week that we saw Jewel on the VT footage when she popped into the training for the waltz I thought her attitude to helping Ty look romantic was a bit strange and it seemed to me like she didn't help at all! |

Thanks for these links - it is so good having someone like you in the USA who can tell us in the UK what we are missing!

Lol, I'm not in the US, I think that was Lili27(?), but one of my friends saw people talking about it on the Facebook DWTS fan page (Dancing With The Stars). I think she just looks a bit silly comparing it to a sport.
