Changing the Kittens name...again
beebo
02-05-2009
So last Sunday evening we finally got our new Kitten, always going to be Otis or Pushkin, within 5 mins of arriving neither name worked, so my OH ( never to be entirely trusted with names) went for MOJO, ok not bad but the kids kept saying Muji, nojo anything but MOJO, then today has builder at the house, picked the kitten up and exclaimed 'This is a KASPA' and you know what - he is??? totally suits him, especially a the teenage hormonal sister he has is 'Kajal' -

Anyway..three people saying its not good to keep changing his name, true, but he has been here less than a week..tell me if I'm wrong folks!

it isn;t good for them, no. it's not really good for anything if it doesn't yet know a name

you've had him less than a week, so it's understandable that you haven't got a name completely decided yet, in my opinion anyway, i've always gone through loads of names for my animals when i;ve got them

as soon as possible though, get him decided as one name, the sooner the better for him really

I'm not sure they actually care, it's the tone of your voice.

My Betty is Betty, Betbet, boo, booboo, booboo mcgoo, pumpkin, princess kitty or anything else I feel like at the time!

I agree, we had a cat called Max, from day 2 he was Maxy Mouse and within a week 'Mouse' and that stayed till he was 10 years old!

I think a dog needs a decided name quicker for training etc..

I'm not so sure ours have all had up to ten names all at once depending what they are doing at the time and never seem to miss a trick

It's also helpful for the vet that he has a name, but other than that they seem to know when they're wanted. Whether they actually bother to obey is another matter

You can always call him Kaspa Mojo

(There was a cat at the vets called Pushkin the other day, I'd never heard it before )

Yes that sounds like it's going to be Kaspa Mojo
Pushkin is often for more..serene breeds of cats maybe, not a little rascal of a cutesy ginger tabby!

I changed my cat's name. I didn't like the name she came with.

At 12 weeks old I called her "Impossible Princess "Folie" Bergere".

Heh - my cat is called Mouse!

OP why 'Kaspa'?

I prefer Casper, and the traditional spelling looks much more dignified. Kaspa is the feline equivalent of Cortnee or Hollee

Hi Maybe - 'Mouse' is a good name for a cat eh?

The Kaspa has gone, it was a Polish friend who 'declared' the kitty is a 'Kaspa' but my kids have gone for .,..
'Mojo-Jakamoto-Toto' ...Mojoo for short - which will become Muji in no time, as long as we have the Mmmm sound i'm happy!

I think most things that end in a "ee" will work, mine's called Josie, but will respond to Fatty and Silly

My instinct is that cats / kittens shouldn't be renamed (especially older cats who are being rehomed etc) BUT we all know cats answer to one universal thing - being fed

Our girl is Amber and neither of us call her that (nor have we ever really!!) she is Ambi, Ambi-Pure, Miss Pure etc... And it's never done her any harm - although she's always been crazy

I just talked to her a lot. I don't think she liked being called "Loopy" either.

I also taught her her call sign to which she also comes running to which is a whistle.

I'm sorry to hear that, what a big gap they leave in our lives.
I look at this kitten and know the heartbreak that will inevitably follow, but I did smile at calling him 'err...'
