That'd be consistent with what I found online, ie. BBC America has announced a July airdate and it was long planned to have the series broadcasted simultaneously in the UK and in the US.

Not a good news...

If it's delayed to July, it's the final straw. We should NOT have to suffer a longer wait so that they can simulcast in America. It is a British show and British viewers should come first in my opinion. So we shouldn't have to wait longer for a series we've been loyal to for longer, we shouldn't have to watch them change the show for American audiences and in general we shouldn't be abused like this. Are they thick? July-August is when a lot of British people go on holiday and by screwing the original BRITISH fans around they could lose viewership. AND! Why should Americans get priority when it's OUR TV LICENCE that pays for Torchwood!

Not only is it a bad choice of month it is also weeks after the press and limited public showings, so spoilers will have leaked and possible copies of the episode by the time the show actually airs if this is true .

I think that the simultaneous broadcast is meant to prevent illegal downloaded copies.
So yes it's unfair and I hate the idea of waiting one more month just anybody else here, but as market goes, there is a reasoning here which is not illogical.

We're meant to be getting 3 more radio plays in June, so people who enjoyed Lost Souls should have something to keep them going.

The first public showing of episode 1 takes place on 12th June, so anyone really wanting to avoid spoilers should stay away from Torchwood forums after that date, although a few major spoilers are already known.

Heroes is shown a week after, prison break is shown behind, 24 isn't simulcast.

if the rumours that jack does indeed have children is true, will they also not be albe to die like jack?

Spoiler
Im not sure actually you raise a good point, as Rose gave him immortality then he escaped to earth. But she could also have been conceived around the time we first saw jack

Spoiler
There's speculation that Alice's mother was an ex-Torchwood employee from the 1960's or 70's. The book The Torchwood Archive - the same book that mentions several things that have now been tied to series 3 - a female employee either left Torchwood or died around the 60's or 70's and Jack had to take 2 weeks off work as a result - a rare occurance.

We've waited long enough, so one more month is not going to make a difference. If it means that BBC1 can promote it correctly and give the program it's full support, then I am all for that. I was surprised (and a little excited) to hear about the 3 new radio plays and so I guess these will be put out throughout June.
My concern is where the program will go after July. With JB doing Cage Aux Folles from Sept to Nov, I guess that no new TW will be filmed until next year, and so will not be shown until next Summer / Autumn. Also, I think that the new BBC search for Dorothy will be shown beginning of next year, and I would presume that JB will be involved with that as well.

I believe John did 'Joseph' whilst filming Torchwood series 2, so that won't be a problem. But yeah, series 4 won't start filming until next year, especially as Eve Myles would be heavily pregnant if they filmed later this year.

According to Torchwood Magazine, the radio plays will air before COE airs but there's still no official dates.

Oh yeah, forgot about her pregnacy.
Prehaps a delayed Series 4 would be good, as they may have more money to put behind it then. Would hate to see the show done on the cheap!

Doctor Who Magazine 409, out this week, states there will be a preview of Children of Earth in DWM 410, which is out on 25th June.

It is unlikely DWM would be previewing it on June 25th if it had been broadcast on the week of June 15th. Very unlikely.

Very true - I'm sure JB must have been given a rough idea as to when it'll be shown and if he said July, sounds right.

If we have TW in July, then DT in SJA around about Oct, the next special in Nov and of course the last two, Christmas time, the summer through to the end of the year is looking good!

Actually because BBC America have given July as the airdate 'live on air' through trailers, it's very unlikely that it will be pushed back again. Also a satelite magazine in the UK has published July as the airdate. If the month wasn't yet fixed, they wouldn't have done so.

But when in July?
It better be after the 10th, or there will be trouble.

Actually, thinking about it, the place I'm on holiday gets the BBC an hour late, so I'll be fine when I'm on holiday. Though, that does mean having to put up with my boyfriend taking the mick all the way through...

BBC press office has released it's program highlights for the week starting 15th June now and Torchwood isn't on the list

It's been semi-confirmed as early or mid July, which is a wait of an extra 3-4 weeks.

At least June is still going to be an active month for Torchwood. There's 3 new books coming out, 3 new radio plays in late June and a collection of magazine articles. SFX magazine has a feature on Torchwood in the new issue coming out on 3rd June, Attitude magazine has an interview with one or two cast members next week and Episode 1 gets its first public showing on 13th June at The National Theatre in London.

Unless Hotel Babylon has one episode delayed by a week in July of course (such things have been known to happen). There is no rigid rule that states that the BBC has to, or will show a drama series weekly, uninterrupted from start to finish. Even serials (where storyline continues over several episodes) have been known to take a forced break whilst another programme is aired.

Additionally, the BBC Programme Info for that week has Hotel Babylon as "unplaced", meaning that it could air on any day (including Sat/Sun), at a time to be confirmed.
