Hi there,

I've decided to go down the route of having a motorized dish.
My Technomate TM-2200 DiseqC motor will turn up later this week.

In the Position Settings of the hidden menu, I have some questions. I understand how to make the motor move (by pressing cursor on East or West. I also understand that Store Current Position will store the current position of the motor, while Go To Stored Position will take the motor to the stored position.

However, what does "Recalculate" do ? I was thinking that it might recalculate positions of the other satellites based on the current satellite you have selected/configured. For example, you configure the motor position of Hotbird 13, store it. Then selecting Recalculate would set the motor positions for the other satellites. However, this motor is not USALS, so I am not sure whether this Recalculate does anything. With DiseqC we have to store each motor position for each satellite - right ?

Another item I am not sure about is the Motor Driver Setting : Continuous, Step or Time (where step and time can be set between 1 - 127). What significance do these settings have ?

Any help (Bob_cat maybe) is highly appreciated !

Cheers,

Rob

Well, I got my motor, and installed it with success.

I had a play, and came to the following answers for the questions I originally had.

Recalculate (not that I ever used it), according to the Technomate motor user guide is to recalculate the positions of "other" set-up satellites relative to the one you are on. I didn't want to risk using this function, as I manually set all the satellite positions with high signal strength.

For the Motor Driver Setting:

Continuous (like it says) drives the motor continuously, until you choose to stop the movement from the HDR GUI.

Step (with setting of 1) makes the motor turn one step (a very small amount when 1 is used). The step mode is very useful when you want to "fine tune" your dish to get the best possible signal.

I didn't use time, but I can only assume it moves the motor for a period of time ...? Probably not useful in most cases.

I hope my findings help others who may be using the Foxsat HD/HDR with a DiseqC 1.2 motor.

It's a shame the Foxsat HD/HDR doesn't have the GoToX functionality. If it had this functionality, I could have found my true south position (with the GoToX value derived from http://www.gaaps.com.tw/) more easily as reading a motor's angle scale isn't that accurate !

Cheers,

Rob
