Did anyone else get a chopped off version of the Martin Clunes programme on Sunday ? It started on time as the "ITV HD not available" screen was there for the first few seconds. But it finished whilst he was still talking. This also happened with the Billy Connelly edge of the world programme a few weeks ago. ITV don`t put much HD out, what they do they should try to get right. Has anyone else had the same problem ?

I watched it, and on mine it continued to transmit in HD until the end of the programme, so they must have sent a signal to ask the box to stop recording it....

In response, mine chopped off too.

I have emailed ITV on this programme error, also stating the very fact that they dont put much HD stuff out and when they do they cant even get that right. As yet, still awaiting a response, funny old thing!

No doubt I will get the time old response that it must be my box etc...

If people complained more to the broadcaster then things generally get done, that is certainly the case with BBC and their far superior HD service.

Yes, my recording was exactly the same; chopped off before the end. The recording length showed as 58mins.

What email address did you use to complain to ITV? I'll add my complaint to the mix as well.

I think it's a cunning plot to force viewers to watch it live so they have to watch the ads!

Its always the same with ITV they put the HD markers on after the start of the programme, before the end of the programme when there's a news break, after the restart of the programme after a news break and before the end of the programme at the end.

The result is you often miss the start, the pre news break ending, the post news break restart and the very end of the film.

My disc was getting rather full so I recorded Island of Britain in SD (from UTV). Recording length is 61 mins. Looks as if I got lucky. It doesn't really matter how good the picture quality is if the content is lacking.

I missed the ending too and my box is set to pad everything by five mins each side, yet the recording is 60 mins which would suggest that schedule had it down as 50 mins duration? Next week the EPG reports a one hour duration but I'm fairly sure it said that yesterday. I'm pretty confident if I'd have picked the SD version I'd have had 70 mins recording with the complete programme.

I used viewerservices@itv.com it worked before and it generally makes it to the correct department.

However, nearly 36 hours after sending the email, nothing. Not even an acknowledgement, they must be thinking of a really good excuse this time.

Re the ads... I keep getting adverts that are out of date, eg offers that have expired. Not much use really, perhaps thats why ITV's profits have taken such a downturn!

ITV are rubbish at sending out start/end signals for programs. If a football game goes to ET, you will miss that so I record the following program after live sport.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to do it with this program as we cant trust them to get it right.

This programme started on time again this week, but was cut a minute earlier than before. So only 57 mins this time. Perhaps someone could find the controller of ITV HD a job in the outer Hebrides. Selling newspapers outside some remote island corner shop, perhaps. Or even sheep shearing....he seems to be very adept at cutting.

Yes this is getting annoying, 2 weeks running.

Mine cut off at the service on the boat at the quayside, just after panning to the baby in the pushchair.

Just looked on ITV Player, and there is just over a minute after this point to the credits starting. So we miss Martin's roundup/summary, which is a pain.

I can feel yet another email to ITV Viewer Services coming on

Rgds.

Those of us who signed up to do "audience research" when we bought our Foxsat HDRs got LOTS n LOTS of questions about ITV HD last month .. what we thought, how they could do it better, what they get wrong etc etc.

It was hard to know where to start .. but I suggested decent billing info, correct start finish and maybe a dedicated channel might be a start !

I watched it live this week and yes, the recording chopped off early. I was dumped back into SD even though I wasn't timeshifting, but at least the red button let me back onto HD.

AND IT DID IT AGAIN!!!

Yes mine disapperared again too. I had a response from ITV regarding my first complaint, it arrived, 3 days later.

They were "very sorry" and "will report it to the technical department" and some other stuff that is not even worth my time typing.

Obviously, ITV dont act on stuff that is quite clearly annoying people they just sit on it and hope it will go away... well guess what, we wont, I wont and another email has been sent.

ITV, you are a total shambles and cant even get a simple event correct.

Here is the response I got from ITV :-
Thank you for your email.

We are aware of problems with this and our engineering team are urgently looking into this.

Many apologies for the inconvenience. You may be interested to know that The Islands of Britain will be released on DVD at the end of the series, available from all the usual High Street and internet retailers.

Well they`ve managed it again. They certainly know how to go out on a high, these boys from ITV HD. The top of Bishop`s Rock lighthouse this week. Just the place to cut Martin Clunes off in mid-sentence. That was the last of this series so we`ll have to await improvements on the next HD offering they come up with. Wouldn`t advise anyone to hold their breath. I thought of padding out this week but assumed even these dimwits couldn`t get it wrong three times in successsion...but they did. Don`t think it`s anything to do with Humax as this is the only recording failure I`ve ever had since I got the machine in early January. Did anyone get a perfect recording. If so what`s your postcode ? I`ll change mine to see if that improves things.

...AND A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO ITV!

Well done chaps! You have excelled. Somebody should take the time to point out to ITV that the phrase "3rd time lucky" actually means that you get it right on the 3rd occasion. Not in ITV's case, "carry on as before".

Totally disappointing considering that I have had an email on Monday last week stating that the engineers were looking into the problem from the last 2 episodes and that this was a priority.

... Define "priority"!

I am sorry to rant on but this is shocking, for once a decent documentary on ITV and they have to spoil it.

Yes, cut off here with about a minute and a half of content left.

ITV will certainly get an appropriate response to their email from me !!

Rgds.
