Is the 8000 an old Freeview PVR? If so, this is the Freesat+ forum for satellite not DTT.

If you search in the Terrestrial | PVRs | Humax forum for "9150 vs 9200 vs 9300" you will find plenty of threads to help you out.

I have a 9300, and you only need 1 aerial input to them.

Rgds.

May I ask a question without starting a new thread?

I have an old Humax8000(?) with single tuner; if I want to upgrade to a dual tuner model do I need 2 cables coming from my aerial?? Also, which Humax box would you recomend? I've read snippets about some of the new one's being 'buggy'.
Ta!!
If you upgrade to a freeview twin tuner pvr you only need 1 feed. (it's different to satellite). If you go for a sat twin tuner pvr you need 2 feeds for full functionality. Freeview twin tuner pvrs either link the tuners internally (eg Humax) or you loop the tuners externally however you wish (eg Topfield)

i did th2 cable setupp loadsa trouble im wondering if ive only 1 feed as only 1 cable works to give a picture the box on the wall says sat 1 and sat2 ive been surfing the net and some communal dishes dont have 2 feeds any way ive got i input and a loop noand im gonna stick with it as i havent got any more mental energy to expend thank u all for your help ill just nip off and shoot myself!!!!not!!!!!!
You have to reset the box after attaching a 2nd cable as it remembers the number of cables attached at 1st set up. So if it is set up with 1 it will remember the configuration for 1 even if there are 2 attached.

If you attached 2 and then did a factory reset and it still didn't work then in all probability you either have 1 satellite feed only or the 2nd feed is faulty.

Not on my Humax Freesat PVR. Just had a second input put in. It automatically recognised there were 2 inputs. I had to do nothing at all. I checked by doing 2 recordings and also the meters under diagnostics, which confirm 2 inputs.

This box is only a few weeks old so maybe they have chnged something. Software is not different.

This is most unlikely.

You can still record two channels with only one LNB feed if they are on the same transponder, and the box will show OK under diagnostics with only 1 LNB feed connected.

Try recording two channels from different transponders, and watching a third.

Rgds.

The meters report two signals anyway. Try this

Goto 951 BBC 1 CI and start a recording, goto 108 BBC HD and start another recording. Now tune any other channel and press pause. If you can pause a 3rd channel your stb is working correctly if not you need to do a factory reset. You can record two channels at the same time using just one tuner if they are one the same transponder. Without a factory reset your stb will think it has a limited choice of channels to record.

This isn't conclusive evidence that you have two working inputs the stb for some bizarre reason just shows a duplicate of the one input LNB1. Try it disconnect LNB2 it will still show two connections

I have done this and they all work. That without a factory reset.

So boys, it is working correctly by just connecting the second cable.

Why so many doubters I may not be an expert, but my work was done and checked, by our own family satellite installation company. They would not dare screw up anything for me and get my wife and there Mother-In-Laws scorn.

To be fair I didnt tell you all that.

Did you change the connection mode in the secret menu to two cable (same). If you did that's why you don't need a factory reset. Either way works.

I didn't doubt you I just corrected you on your assumption that the diagnostics displayed the readings of two separate tuners when, following my suggestion, clearly it doesn't.

Could it be that 1.03 firmware checks for 2 cables at boot time ?

Beat me to it !!!

@jonesy
I did doubt you My apologies.

But so many people have reported that this does not work, and only a factory reset, or change in the hidden menu will get it to recognise 2nd cable, after an initial install with one cable.

I take it you are on 1.00.03 ??

Rgds.

I've no idea perhaps jonesyboy can test and see if removing LNB2 still displays two separate tuners. Or anyone else on version 1.00.03 for that matter

My box was only delivered to My Supplier() 3 weeks ago. Yes it is on 1.00.3. The update date is the end of February. I assume that is when the firmware was loaded. . I have not had any problems so far. It has been running on one feed until this morning. Had to wait for extra feed, we employ lazy B******s.

Er No. Only found out about that afterwards. No need for any apologies, no offence was taken., I must say I was surprised it worked straight away.

HOWEVER
The guy who did the installation is Polish. He is an expert and maybe he did something without me seeing. His English is poor and he did have my Greyhound up his A*** at the time. However I did not leave the room.

I cannot remove no2 cable. I am disabled. Who cares, it works although I can understand all of your trepidation..

I must say I am impressed how knowledgeable many of you are. It is also a pleasure to converse with friendly people. I have come across from BT Vision(HMMMM).
